Kilton’s Fang and Bone Shop Guide [The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild]

Kilton’s Fang and Bone Monster Shop

Where to find

To encounter Kilton, you must have reached the North Akkala region and arrived at the small islet. The area is designated on the map as the left “eye” of the Skull Lake. He only makes an appearance during evenings.

The Shop

Once you have introduced yourself, this peculiar traveling merchant will circumnavigate the land. The Bone and Fang Shop will make an appearance as a colorful hot-air balloon between the hours of 8 pm to 4 am.

The shop itself is a treasure trove of monster drops. However there’s a catch, he only accepts a special currency known as “mon” (?), which you can only obtain from him as well. In order to obtain some, you have to sell your own loot first.

Medals of Honor

By the time you finish the Main Story, Kilton will be happy to chat about monsters that fascinate him. When faced with a dialogue option, it leads to discussions on certain mini-bosses.

Basically, your task is to defeat all the variations of 3 out of the 4 mini-bosses found in the entire region. For each feat accomplished, he will bestow you with the key item, the Medal of Honor.

The table summarizes the Mini-boss species, the amount required to defeat, and the corresponding reward.

Mini-boss Number to defeat Reward
Talus x40 Medal of Honor: Talus
Hinox x40 Medal of Honor: Hinox
Molduga x4 Medal of Honor: Molduga

  1. A couple of questions:

    a. How do you unlock certain items to be sold? When I first found Fang and Bone, I was very far in and I could buy anything. My boyfriend is still pretty close to the beginning (he has not defeated any beasts) and can only buy monster extract, a mop, and the Bokoblin mask.

    b. Do you have to defeat Ganon and load the game afterwards tp activate the medal of honor awards?

  3. “If you upgrade all three of these armor pieces to at least level 2, wearing the full set will grant the Night Speed Up bonus, increasing your movement speed until dawn.”

The Dark Link set is not upgrade-able. The night speed set bonus is activate-able by default.
