This section provides details on the Mini-Game: Snow Ball Bowling. It lists the Mini-game’s location, basic details, requirements, method, and earnings in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Snow Ball Bowling
An area that stands at the Northeast of Hebra Tower, Pondo’s Lodge offers a short-mini game called ‘Snow Ball Bowling.’ Since the site occurs in a tundra, you have either consume Cold Resistance Elixirs or equip a Cold Resistant Armor.
To begin the game, you have to communicate with the owner Pondo to hear the regulations of the game. As the name implies, it requires you to strike 10 giant pins with a gigantic snow ball. If you can knock all of them down in one go, it will score you the best prize.
Before the game starts, it will require a fee of 20 rupees to enter. By knocking down all pins in one go, it results in a strike. Whereas, when two rounds are consumed to knock down all the pins, it will result in a spare.
Requirements
- Reach Hebra Tower
- Cold Resistance Elixirs / Quilted Tunic
Optional: Stasis Rune and One-handed Weapon
Farming Rupees
With an affordable fee of 20 Rupees, it seems easy to strike all the pins in one go. However, the challenge comes in with the terrain. Since the starting position is at the top of a slope surrounded with many bumps, it requires some adjustments to account for the unevenness.
Methods
First Method
Start by aligning Link with the flat concrete that lies at the center, with the wooden pillar on the right. This puts Link in a position where he’s directly facing the front pin. If the angle is properly adjusted, the ball should slightly roll to the left before moving to the right after it goes past the bumps. It will finally align parallel to the lead pin, moving at full speed.
Second Method
Another way to go about this is to observe the alignment. While holding the giant Snow Bowling Ball, position at an angle where the Bowling pin’s antlers are at neck level with Link while he stands at the middle of the hump. After familiarizing for some time, it is possible to score strikes one after the other to gain a huge profit.
Alternative Option: Stasis
If mastery of the Snow Ball throw becomes troublesome, performing Stasis might work instead. Start off by standing behind the Snow Ball, then make the proper adjustments: Link must be aligned with the center of the Snow Ball, and both of them must be aligned with the lead pin. After performing the Stasis on the Snow Ball, attack it 5 times with a one-handed weapon. This should cause the Stasis vector arrow to turn orange in color. This should cause the ball to tumble and pick up sufficient speed to strike all the pins.
Earnings
With a payout of a Gold Rupee for each successful strike, playing this countless number of times should award you with plenty of Rupees in just a fraction of the cost. Not only that, but you may also trade the Blizzard Rod to Kula in Korok Forest for Rupees.
This table summarizes the rewards you obtain based on your performance.
Score | Reward |
---|---|
Strike (1st time) | Blizzard Rod |
Strike (Following tries or when the inventory is full) |
Gold Rupee |
Spare | Silver Rupee |
9 pins | Purple Rupee |

Here’s the easiest way I’ve found. Next to the big reindeer carving, there is a patch of dry grass in between a circle of blue flowers. Stand right in the middle and aim for the Death Mountain volcano off on the horizon. You’ll get a strike EVERYTIME.
There’s an easier way to do it. Pick the ball up then target pondo. Go behind him then look down while still targetting him. The target arrow shows you where to line the ball up. Needs to be in the center of the ball then throw. It will go over him, scare him then bam strike!!!
