How to Unlock Inventor Job Class Guide for Octopath Traveler 2
What is the Inventor Job Class?
The Inventor is one of the secondary jobs in Octopath Traveler 2 that you can unlock during the early stages of the main story. As the job’s name implies, the Inventor is focused on building “inventions” that allow him to use a number of useful support skills in battle.
Can be unlocked at Eastern New Delsta Highroad (Brightlands)
Talk to Arkar the Inventor to get the Proof of the Inventor (Secondary Job Key Item)
To unlock the Inventor job, go to Eastern New Delstra Highroad (Brightlands). Note that the area has a Danger Level of 5.
Once you arrive, take the exit to the east. In the next area, follow the road east. When the path opens up north, take it and follow it. Continue up ahead to a caravan and follow the road as it goes east again.
Ignore the path that opens to the north and take the one that leads south. Continue along the path and you will find a wooden bridge that you can cross. Then, go inside the large house. Afterwards, talk to the Arkar the old Inventor to get Proof of the Inventor x1. This will now allow you to set the secondary job of any character in your party to the Inventor class.
Inventor Job Class Overview
The Inventor is a versatile support-focused job class that has access to various skills that improve the party’s performance in battle. The Inventor’s active job skills are referred to as “inventions” and must be built for them to become usable during the character’s turn. Once a skill has been used, it needs to be “built” again that will take a specific number of turns.
Equipment and Stats
Inventors are able to equip swords and axes and have well-rounded stats across the board. They, however, do not have the best speed and evasion in the game.

Recommended Characters for Inventor Job Class
During the early stages, it is recommended to have Throne or Agnea equip the Inventor as a secondary job class to give them access to swords and axes. Both characters start off with only being able to use daggers which may seem underwhelming in the beginning of the game.
Changing Throne or Agnea’s secondary job to Inventor also grants them the Changeable Catapult job skill to target all enemies. This may be useful for easily clearing regular battles early on.
