Save files cannot be transferred to different platforms (no cross save) except for PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5
Octopath Traveler 2 does not have a cross-save feature. This means that you cannot migrate your game data from one platform to another. The only exception to this is the PlayStation 4 which supports the transfer of saved files to the PlayStation 5 via Wi-Fi or LAN cable.

Because of this, decide carefully if you want to play the game on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, or Steam (PC) if you have access to more than one supported platform.

You cannot the main character until you complete their story chapters.
Once you select the main character from the 8 playable Travelers, you will not be able to change it until after you clear that character’s story chapters. Because of this, try to choose the character you like the most to be your main protagonist at the start of the game.

Materials and monsters used in Concoct and Prepare are lost forever.
Note that the materials you use to craft items with Castti‘s Concoct Talent cannot be refunded afterward. This also applies to consumables made with Ochette‘s Prepare Talent that will require captured monsters instead. Try to save up rare materials and monsters you obtain or capture to avoid wasting them throughout the main story.
