New Game+ Features in Persona 5 Strikers
New features will take effect after clearing the main story and Post-Game of Persona 5 Strikers (or Persona 5 Scramble). Finishing the main story requires defeating the final boss, Demiurge, for the first time. Clearing the Post-Game requires finishing additional Requests and defeating the secret boss, Reaper. After that, you will gain access to the game’s New Game+ mode.
How to Unlock New Game+
After clearing all the Requests, both from the main story and Post-Game, defeat the final boss, Demiurge, again. Then, save the Post-Game clear save file to another slot. Load the Post-Game clear save file and wait for the cutscene in the Velvet Room to end.
Check your list of Requests and see if there is none left. Return to the Velvet Room again to acquire the New Game+ save file. The New Game+ of the Persona 5 Strikers covers both carry over elements and new features.
Carry Over Elements
Here is a breakdown of carry over elements in Persona 5 Strikers’ New Game+:
Character Levels and Joker’s Persona Stock
The level of each Phantom Thief member will be carried over to New Game+. It is advisable to have all party members start at level 70 in order to unlock a trophy as well as a good starting level for the new Risky or Merciless Difficulty Mode. Similarly, Joker’s Persona stock in the the Post-Game is also carried over.
Pandora Already Unlocked
Sophie’s (Sophia’s) “true form” persona, Pandora, is already usable in New Game+. All the stats and skills from the Post-Game are carried over as soon as she joins your party.
Wolf Already Available
In addition, Wolf (Zenkichi Hasegawa) is already playable in New Game+ after clearing the main story. He can be played in the first jail and call out his persona, Valjean, immediately although the story is still the same. This is different from Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal where all characters must still be unlocked by progressing through the story even on subsequent playthroughs.
Character Equipment
In addition to the character levels, equipment acquired or purchased from the previous clear will become accessible in New Game+. This is similar Persona 5 or Persona 5 Royal where you can use again the best weapons available for each playable character.
Persona Compendium (Unlock Lucifer)
All of the personas the player registered and fused in the Velvet Room will be also retained. This is the same with Persona 5 or Persona 5 Royal so that you can fuse higher level personas, including the Lucifer. Lucifer is a Post-Game exclusive persona fusion. You’ll need to have accomplished many of Velvet Room’s fusion Requests to acquire most of the fusion materials to obtain Lucifer.
New Elements
Here is a breakdown of new elements in Persona 5 Strikers’ New Game+:
Merciless or Risky Difficulty Unlocked
The hardest difficulty setting called “Merciless” is unlocked after clearing the game on Normal or Hard. This mode features extremely powerful enemies for players who seek a challenge.
The number of Incense acquired on Merciless difficulty is also increased. The item is used for increasing a specific stat of your persona, allowing you to battle strong foes more competently.
Note that once you start New Game+ on Merciless difficulty, you will not be able to change it afterwards.
Takeover Feature Unlocked
After defeating the Reaper from the Post-Game, take Takeover Feature will be unlocked. Take note that the Reaper differs from regular shadows due to their lack of weaknesses. (We’ll check this part on the English version of the game.)
In order to find the secret boss you will need to clear all the Post-Game Strong Shadows Requests and Painful Past Requests which are fairly similar to Persona 5’s mementos Requests.
Stronger Jail Monarch Bosses
Requests such as “Painful Memory” will now pair you against enhanced variants of the Jail bosses with improved stats. Since the bosses are tough to beat, we recommend skipping them for another playthrough or two to help you grasp the combat system more thoroughly. If you manage to accomplish such feat, you can unlock even better weapons for your characters.
Dire Shadows will Respawn
In addition of stronger Monarchs, Dire Shadows, will respawn after defeating them. This only applies when you play the game in Merciless or Risky mode.
New Items in Sophia’s Shop
Sophia’s Shop will begin to sell various types of incense when you start New Game+.
Merciless is NO BUENO. Start the game on it just long enough to acquire the trophy, then start another New Game+ on whatever other difficulty you want.
So if I have missed one of the requests, can I start ng+, and just play until I complete the missed one to get the trophy?
Hey, just so you know. Your guide mentions clearing the game on Normal AND Hard. You only need to do Normal OR Hard!
Hi Helix, thanks for the correction, we have updated it!
Going to chalk all this under things I wished I’d known 40 gameplay hours earlier.
whats does the takeover feature do?
I think its what ng+ is called on the Japanese version because thats (from what i can tell) all you unlock at that point. I might be completely wrong but no where i look i find an answer for this.
We’ll check it in the English version of the game. Thanks for the notice
Can I have multiple new game + save files? One for Merciless and another for Normal/Hard in case Merciless is too brutal for my liking.
Does money carry over into new game +?
Do leveled up bond skills carry over to new game plus as well?
Yup
does skill cards carroes over?
