Okuninushi

Okuninushi, born from Japanese Lore, had different names like “Oumononushi” and “Oonamuchi”. A former Kunitsu, Okuninushi was also the lord of Izumo until Ninigi took over. Despite this, he became the ruler of the unseen realm of spirits and magic. Most people in Shintoism know him as the god of nation-building, business, and medicine.

Before he became the ruler of Izumo, Okuninushi and his 80 brothers fought for the hand of Princess Yakami or Yagami of Inaba. However, in the end, the princess chose Okuninushi, who showed kindness to a poor rabbit. Because of this, his brothers conspired to kill him. They managed to kill him twice before Okuninushi ended up speaking to Susano-o.

After speaking with Susano-o, he fell in love with the god’s daughter, Suseri-hime. When Susano-o found out, he sent the god on various tasks. Only after did he choose to approve. However, this was after Suseri-hime and Okuninushi tried to elope.

After Suseri-hime became his wife, Okuninushi and the dwarf deity Sukuna Hikona began building the world. The two together formulated the arts of medicine, means of controlling disasters caused by birds and insects and became close friends.

Okuninushi returns as a persona in Persona 5 Strikers (or Persona 5 Scramble). The persona can be summoned or fused by the Protagonist (codename: Joker), the returning main character and leader of the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5.
