Armstrong Attacks and Moves
Attack / Move | Attack/Move Effect |
---|---|
Cannon | Armstrong’s dangerous attack. The attack animation is fast and causes big damage. If you’re fighting on later cycles, the attack also inflicts a status condition. |
Giant Swing | Armstrong briefly pauses and then swings the fence hitting anyone caught within the radius. |
Toxic Cloud | The boss’ attack which takes a while to come off. You can tell when he’ll use this attack when he tilts his head back. After charging, the boss expels a large poison cloud with a wide area of effect. |
Slow | Armstrong also carries time magic to slow you down. While the range is short, it’s hard to tell when to avoid it. |
Armstrong Strategies
Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:
Keep your distance
Similar to the battle against Orc King, you need to be mindful of where you’re going. Keep moving and maintain a moderate distance away from the boss. If you move too far you’ll be punished by his ranged attack. While you can approach the boss, ideally you shouldn’t take your time dishing out attacks since he’ll punish you if you take too long to back away.
Take out the skeletons
A pair of skeletons will join the fray and interfere during the fight sometime later. Prioritize on disposing of them quickly to prevent their magic attacks from landing.
Avoid the toxic cloud
When the boss’ head tilts back, that is a clear sign that it will release a toxic cloud after some charge time. Clear the way to avoid the cloud. If you get caught, you’ll be inflicted with poison.
Use fire spells or focus attacks
The boss fares poorly against fire spells which make the elemental useful for this fight. That being said, capitalize on ranged spells over physical attacks if you can afford to since you’ll be able to avoid most of his physical moves.
