In Shin Megami Tensei V (SMT 5), Miracles grant a variety of useful passive effects both in and out of combat. As soon as you are able to purchase Miracles from Sophia in the World of Shadows, get Forestall and Hand of God. The first gives you an immense advantage when initiating battles while the second will help you get more Relics that you can sell of for money early in the game.

Divine Amalgamation

Being able to change Nahobino’s elemental affinities through essence fusion becomes very handy, especially against the game’s early bosses. Get this after learning Forestall and Godly hand as soon as possible. Divine Amalgamation becomes available from Sophia after destroying the Abscess in Hamamatsucho.

Fell Swoop

Since you will constantly be targeting enemies with skills that they are weak against, Fell Swoop is a must to acquire. You can unlock this Miracles after destroying the Abscess in Shiba Park.

Divine Garrison I and II

Divine Garrison miracles let you increase your demon stock, giving you more options when swapping out allies to gain the advantage against foes. Defeated allies can also be replaced with those in your stock which will regularly happen against tough bosses.
