SMT 5: Vengeance New Unlockable Ending Routes
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance adds two (2) new endings under the new Canon of Vengeance alignment route type. These endings can only be accessed by choosing to “take the girl’s hand” (left option) at the start of the game. Refusing to do so, meanwhile, locks you into any of the original 4 Canon of Creation endings from the base version of the game.
Ending-Locked Missable Features and Content
Since you can only get one (1) ending after finishing the main story of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, it is possible to miss out on certain features and content such as new subquests, obtainable demons, Miracles, and other special events exclusive to other endings.
Note that there are also some new obtainable demons and Miracles that will be unlocked regardless of the ending you get. These post-game features and elements are detailed in the article below.

How to Unlock All Canon of Creation Endings (SMT 5 Base Version)
In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, it is entirely possible to select the type of Canon of Creation ending you want to get (with the exception of the fourth ending) upon reaching the Temple of Eternity. Once you have defeated Metatron, you can choose one of three paths to take which are: to uphold God’s order, recreate the world and save Tokyo, or destroy the throne.
Demon Fusions Unlocked
Regardless of the ending route, you will obtain these demon fusions:
- Lady Nuwa
- Herald Abdiel
- Fallen Abdiel (Transformed)
- Lady Nuwa (Transformed)
Post-Game Subquests Unlocked
Regardless of the ending route, you will gain access to these subquests:
- A Plot Revealed subquest (Demeter Final Subquest) – Helps unlock Zeus demon fusion. (Must have cleared all Demeter subquests prior to choosing an ending route.)
- The Compassionate Quest/The Wrathful Queen/The Noble Queen (Maria Subquest) – Helps unlock Maria/Inanna/Danu demon fusion (Must have reached 75% demonic compendium progress and obtained a Seed of Life Key.)
How Character Alignment Affects the Exclusive Post-Game Canon of Creation Subquests
Once you pick the Canon of Creation ending you want to get, an exclusive post-game subquest will require you to pay 666,000 Macca if your current character alignment (based on your dialogue choices) does not match the ending route choice. For example, if you choose to uphold God’s order but have little to no alignment with Abdiel and Ichiro Dazai, you must shell out the fee to pursue the subquest.
Alignment-locked Miracles
You will also acquire one of two new post-game Miracles if the Canon of Creation ending you choose coincides with your character alignment upon entering the Empyrean (the game’s final area). Otherwise, you will not get the alignment-locked Miracle.

Secret Fourth Canon of Creation Ending (Create a World for Humanity Alone)
The fourth Canon of Creation ending, Create a World for Humanity Alone, is a secret ending that triggers when you pick the Destroy the Throne path. To get this ending, you must clear several questlines before defeating Metatron and being given the chance to lock in your ending path as Nahobino at the Temple of Eternity.
You can trigger this ending on your first playthrough. However, it will take some time to clear this route since you will need to have around level 94 ally demons to defeat Shiva. You can make use of the Petrified to boss your party’s level faster but it is essential to have the strongest demons in your party.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance All Petrified Demon Locations
Below are the required quests to clear to unlock the fourth secret ending:
- Fionn’s Resolve (Fionn mac Cumhaill final subquest)
- The Destined Leader (Amanozako final subquest)
- The Succession of Ra (Khonsu final subquest) – Can only be accessed after sparing Khonsu at the end of The Egyptians’ Fate subquest to unlock.
- A Universe in Peril (Shiva super boss subquest) – Can only be accessed upon reaching level 80 or above.
After completing these quests, head to the Temple of Eternity and advance until you defeat Metatron. Choose the Destroy the Throne path and progress through the story until you defeat Abdiel. If done correctly, Nuwa will appear after the fight, allowing you to choose the Create a World for Humanity Alone path and ending.

Recommended Order of Unlocking All Endings
Unlocking all endings requires you to go through multiple playthroughs, starting from the beginning of the game on each subsequent run (New Game Plus/NG+).
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance New Game Plus (NG+) Guide
In general, the best order of acquire all endings is: Canon of Creation True Neutral > Canon of Vengeance Law > Canon of Creation Neutral > Canon of Vengeance Chaos > Canon of Creation Law > Canon of Creation Chaos.
This requires you to do a total of 6 playthroughs to get every ending in the game.
1 | On your first playthrough, choose not to take the girl’s hand to begin the Canon of Creation story routes. |
---|---|
2 | Proceed through the main story while clearing all major demon questlines (Amanozako, Fionn mac Cumhaill, Khonsu, and Shiva) before fighting Metatron in the game’s final area. Be sure to spare Khonsu as well to get the True Neutral ending when you choose to “create a world for humanity alone”. |

9 | Clear the main story to get the Canon of Vengeance Law ending. |

I was really hoping they would swap the Neutral Endings in Vengeance, since they really don’t make sense as they are. Why does following the plan of the two people that say “all demons must die” lead to the end where you coexist with demons? And why does helping demons throughout the game lead to the end where you remove demons from existence?
1
The alignment based canon of vengeance unlockables are incorrect. You can in fact get ALL alignment based unlocks from the original game in the canon of vengeance route.
If you are LAW aligned, you’ll be able to get Michael and Maria, I assume this will lock you on the LAW route, but it may be possible if you are VERY close to neutral to get the chaos ending.
If you are CHAOS aligned, you’ll be able to get Innana and Belial. Similarly, I assume this will lock you on the CHAOS route, but it may be possible, if you are VERY close to neutral, to get the law ending.
If you are NEUTRAL, you’ll be able to get Danu (as with the main game, you won’t be able to get Michael/Belial), HOWEVER, as there is no neutral ending, if you are neutral you’ll basically be able to PICK your ending, based on how you respond to a certain question during the ending (it’s kind of a spoiler and which answer will lead to where is blatantly obvious). I do not know if the question exists if you have an alignment.
I got Inheritance Violation and Rank Violation regardless of which ending route I took (I’ve picked both, from the same save file, so I know it’s valid in both cases).
Also, you get both Abdiel fusions on the Canon of Vengeance route. Since you unlock Hayataro earlier (at an actual reasonable level where he’s powerful/useful), taking the Canon of Vengeance route lets you get EVERYTHING but the NEUTRAL story unlocks from the Canon of Creation (which is fitting, given there is no neutral ending in the canon of Vengeance), though the alignment based end game optional quests are still mutually exclusive by play through, and unlike the Canon of Creation, purely based on your current alignment.
You can’t “pick” a different ending from your alignment and then spend money to get a different set of unlocks, you are stuck with whatever your actual alignment is.
Does it matter if u make the neutral choices during the 1st neutral playthru (going by this guide)? U don’t get an alignment based skill unlock, so can’t u just do whatever u want during the game, then just select the neutral ending? Or will that not work? I was thinking i could do all law, then have a save ready, just watch the neutral ending, then go back to the save & finish the law playthru, with the correct ending choice. Is there a reason u need to have a full game completion for neutral, since u don’t get a skill?
You have to pay 666,000 TO NEBORIS IN ORDER TO GET THEIR SUBQUEST TO UNLOCK BELIAL. This page needs a lot of editing especially since it doesn’t even tell you which choices net you which alignment. FIRST response is LAW (uphold) and SECOND response is CHAOS (recreate) by the way.
Thanks for the feedback. This guide is already updated!
Not sure the requirements are correct for the hidden ending. For what it’s worth, I completed all of the quest lines listed however I did not receive the option for the hidden ending. I DID defeat metatron before defeating shiva, however this was still BEFORE selecting one of the dialogue options.
So I’m thinking you may have to complete ALL the quests BEFORE facing Metatron, not just before selecting an option.
Bit annoying.
The only thing I can think of is that you weren’t in NG+, which is another requirement for the secret ending.
I’m pretty sure it’s the decisions you make. Unfortunately, you will not really know your alignment until you talk to Nebrios in the final area. If he charges you 660,000 for the quest then you didn’t follow the route and will lose the ability to get the miracle associated with that ending. It is still possible to get the secret ending on a single playthrough but again it depends on how you talked Shohei. I’m pretty sure you just have to agree with everything he says whenever you run into him and that applies to any of the characters. Jumping around with the decisions will lock you out of any of the endings as well. I kept restarting to see if my 1st playthrough even align with Law, Chaos, or Neutral. Nebrios kept charging me 660000 Macca every time so I was out of luck.
I just got the secret ending, and I had beaten Shiva after metatron (but before the alignment lock). Wasn’t on NG+ either, that’s not required for the secret ending. The fourth route isn’t a fourth option you get when entering the Empyrean, you just choose “Destroy the Throne”, and then later on before the final boss you’ll have a new option available to create a world of only humans. This is the secret ending, up until that final choice though it’s the same as the Destroy the Throne route.
