Dilan in Kingdom Hearts 3
Although Dilan has not appeared in any trailer released for Kingdom Hearts 3, it is highly likely that will appear in the game.
Due to the involvement of Ienzo and Even in the story, Dilan may serve as an aid for both of them. But before Square Enix reveals Dilan’s role in KH 3, let’s look at his appearances in the past KH games and see how he turned from Nobody to a human again.

Xaldin’s History
Dilan, the Apprentice
Before becoming a Nobody, Dilan was one of Ansem the Wise’s apprentices in Radiant Garden. He was tasked with guarding Ansem’s castle from the Unversed.
After Terra-Xehanort loses his memory and becomes Ansem’s apprentice, Dilan joined him in his cruel experiments on the Heartless. He helps the other apprentices in abducting civilians and turning them into Heartless. Terra-Xehanort then stabs all the apprentices with his Keyblade and turns their hearts into Heartless, but due to their strong will, their bodies and souls transform into Nobodies. The new Nobodies then banished Ansem the Wise to the Realm of Darkness.
Dilan, now named Xaldin, joins Terra-Xehanort’s Nobody Xemnas as well as the other Nobodies to form Organization XIII.
Xaldin, the Whirlwind Lancer
Now as a member of Organization XIII, Xaldin carries out missions to collect hearts across various worlds. He is once accompanied by Roxas during his mission inside Beast’s Castle. It is in this mission that he saw Beast’s relentless power. This sparks his goal to turn Beast into a Heartless for Xemnas and capture its Nobody to do his bidding.
In Kingdom Hearts 2, Xaldin is partially successful in his plan to capture Beast. He convinces the creature that Belle is plotting to kill him. With Beast’s heart slowly succumbing to despair, Sora and Belle go to the castle to mend his heart.
Belle is able to heal Beast’s sadness eventually with Sora’s help. However, Xaldin returns and takes Beast’s rose, provoking him to attack. When Beast is about to pounce him, he disappears. Out of anger, Beast shouted at Belle and told her to leave the castle.
When Belle locks herself in her room, she finds the rose lying nearby and calls Beast, only for Xaldin to take hold of her. He then forces Beast to choose which one he would get: the girl or the rose. Before Beast can reply, Belle catches Xaldin by surprise and elbows him. The Beast and Sora then engage Xaldin in battle.
Xaldin is defeated and his body disintegrates. This then leads to Dilan’s Heartless and Nobody to unite and recreate his human form. Dilan then wakes up inside Ansem’s castle at Radiant Garden.
