[PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds / PUBG] Equipment and Items Guide

This page contains a guide on equipment and items in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), including types of armor, consumables, backpacks, boosters, equipment and item tiers, and their specific effects in the game.

Equipment and Items Guide

In PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), knowing how to use your weapon is only half of the whole game’s objective of survival. Along with this, you’ll need to know what equipment and items you should use to stay alive longer in the match.

Weapons and Equipment Storage

Having enough space in your inventory to carry weapons, ammo and consumable items is vital in the game. Players are allowed to carry two (2) primary weapons (assault rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles and designated marksman rifles), one (1) pistol or handgun, one (1) melee weapon and throwable weapons or grenades. It is important to note that any weapons equipped (and any mods or attachments) will not take up any capacity in your inventory.

Weapons and equipment are stored in backpacks, which are found scattered all across the map. There are currently 3 tiers of backpacks, providing different additional storage capacities.

Backpacks
Level Effect
Level 1 Additional 150 storage capacity
Level 2 Additional 200 storage capacity
Level 3 Additional 250 storage capacity

Every character will be outfitted with a utility belt that provides a small increase in storage capacity. In addition to this, all worn vests will provide an additional 50 storage capacity regardless of level.

Protective Gear

Players are given two slots where a vest and helmet can be equipped. They serve to provide the player some level of armor to protect themselves from enemy fire. Note that vests and helmets will be covering very specific body parts, specifically the torso and the head which leaves the legs and arms still unprotected.

Vests

Vests are body armor that protect a players torso, as well increasing the storage capacity by 50. Vests block the full damage around the protected area, even at 1 armor point remaining. This means that any and all body armor found (damaged or undamaged) must almost always be picked up and worn if you are not already wearing one.

There are three kinds of vests found in the game with varying armor levels.

Vests
Level Effect
Police Vest (Level 1) Provides 200 body armor
Police Vest (Level 2) Provides 220 body armor
Military Vest (Level 3) Provides 250 body armor

It is important to know that an undamaged vest will always provide more defense than a damaged one, but keep in mind that a damaged Military Vest (Level 3) is better than an undamaged Police Vest (Level 1).

Helmets

Helmets provide an additional form of defense, specifically from headshots. As such, it is not guaranteed that having a helmet on will save you from any direct hits to the head, especially from sniper fire. However, they are very reliable against most other weapons not fired at extremely close-range. The Spetsnaz Helmet (Level 3) is the only known helmet which allows you to survive a shot from a sniper rifle, though still not enough against the AWM.

Helmets
Level Effect
Motorcycle Helmet (Level 1) Provides 80 head armor
Military Helmet (Level 2) Provides 150 head armor
Spetsnaz Helmet (Level 3) Provides 230 head armor

Bear in mind that you should always switch out damaged helmets for undamaged ones as much as possible.

Consumable Items

Meds

It is recommended to stock up on as much healing items as you can during a match, especially for when the combat area shrinks to a considerably small size. Below are the consumable med items currently obtainable in the game.
