This article contains information, tips, and tricks on how, where, and when to refuel a vehicle in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds [PUBG].
How to Refuel a Vehicle
In PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds [PUBG], players have access to a variety of vehicles that increase their mobility in-game. However, unlike most games, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds doesn’t allow infinite gasoline. Players will eventually run out of gas, rendering the vehicle useless or as a possible wall and obstacle. However, there is a way to render the vehicle mobile again. There’s a particular item scattered around the island known as a Gas Can. With that, the player can refuel the vehicle and regain their mobility again.
Once the player obtains the Gas Can, the player must enter the vehicle. When inside, make sure the vehicle is stationary before beginning to refill the fuel tank. However, there are a few things to note. The first would be that while the character is performing the action, this leaves the player completely open for an attack. Another is that while player refuels the car, it’s possible for the vehicle to take damage. In doing so, the vehicle may detonate or render itself useless. And when it does, the player would have wasted one Gas Can on a useless vehicle.
How does one know whether or not to refuel the vehicle? Here are some tips which can help.
Check the remaining lifepool of the vehicle.
If the vehicle has a low health pool then, there’s no point refueling the vehicle. In fact, it’s most likely that the vehicle is serving as a trap in order for the trapper to take down the player. This trick involves exploiting other players’ desperation into getting to the safe zone before taking hits from the pulse damage coming from the Battle Area. Thus, the vehicle may serve more as a temporary wall and obstacle to prevent the player from taking fire.
Measure the distance between the player and the safe point.
Measuring the distance may help as it will help the player decide whether or not he should fuel the vehicle. If the player requires a bit of a hike to get to the safe point then, it would be wise to refuel the vehicle as walking may take long. This also is important if the player decides to land in Sonosvka Military Base in which players would call the “Gauntlet” of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Having a gas can to refuel a water-based vehicle can help cover the distance the player needs to either abandon the Gauntlet battle or escape to an isolated area where the loot is uncontested.
Never refuel out in the open.
Refueling out in the open not only makes the player an obvious target but also makes the vehicle prone to taking heavy damage. As of now, there is no known vehicle that can take a heavy amount of fire except for the truck which plans to be released soon. Hence, players must hide their vehicle somewhere behind a wall or near a building to not only use the vehicle as a means to ram down the enemy but to also buy time. By hiding the vehicle behind the wall, the player not only can refuel in peace but also has the element of surprise.
