This page contains a guide to get better FPS in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) using Startup Steam Codes and Commands, as well as detailed methods to achieve better gameplay.
Startup Options
There is an item called ‘startup option‘ in Steam’s advanced settings. You can improve PUBG frame rate and operation slightly using start up options.
Because there is a risk that there would be bugs or odd behavior, please do so at your own risk when you set up.
Although you can use it for shadowing, you can’t erase the shadow by the 6/22 update.
If you input these codes and something goes wrong because of it, you should remove the codes. According to the PUBG dev official twitter, customization of the ini and startup options is causing the frame rate to drop. You might need to delete them.
How to use Steam Codes in the Startup for PUBG
- Go to Steam Library. Right-click on PUBG and open properties.
- Look for an item called “Start-up options.” Click it to open.

The following is the explanation of the code.

-malloc=system
This setting is used to adjust the amount of memory allocated by the OS while PUBG is running. The game’s operation is optimized if you enter this command.
-lowmemory
When your RAM is 8GB or less, this allows PUBG to use 8 GB or less.
-sm 4
Use this to switch the graphic API used for PUBG from DirectX 11 to DirectX 10. It affects old PCs that use this kind of hardware.
