Yakuza: Like a Dragon Substories
Consistent with all Yakuza games, the player is still asked to accomplish multiple substories while finishing the game’s main story. Substories range from helping people to playing a specific kind of role in the game.
A substory appears once at a particular story point of a chapter. Although numbered, they do not appear in sequential order throughout each main story chapter. Note that there are some story chapters that will not unlock any new substories.
Unlocking Substories
In order to unlock the substories in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, you must progress to Chapter 3 – The Town at Rock Bottom of the main story.
Some substories will be unlocked automatically as the story progress while others need to be prompted by going to the substory’s starting location.
Substory Rewards
Clearing substories allows you to obtain various useful items, including weapons, armor, accessories, and consumables. Some substories also unlock game features such as various mini games, and characters you can recruit as Poundmate summons or as employees in Business Management.
Certain Substories are also only accessible after clearing prerequisite substories so it is worth doing as many as you can during each chapter to unlock more quests.
