Shogi Mini Game Guide
Where to play Shogi
Shogi is located in Isezaki facing the Tsurugame bridge. After reaching the location, speak to the homeless man near the bridge. Play Shogi to earn points and then exchange them for prizes.
How to play Shogi
Choose a mode
| Shogi | Arrangement |
|---|---|
| Jun’isen | Play with the basic rules of shogi. The opponent’s class goes up when the number of pieces go down. |
| Trial | Play with custom arrangement. Practice ranking battle before playing. |
| Tsume Shogi | Play with custom arrangement. More difficult than standard modes. |
Learn the ropes with ranked battles and play against low ranked players to learn and develop your skills.
Activate assist

Unlike other titles, the new Shogi allows you to use special functions called Wait and Super Wait. These features allow you go back and rethink your choices at the cost of deductions.

Shogi Tips
Give space to the “horns”
The horns are powerful pieces but struggle to move while in their default positions. Move the pieces in front out of the way to give way for the horns to move.
Free some space for the rook
Similar to the horns, the rooks are also useful pieces because they can cover long distances. Take out some of the pieces blocking the way to give room for the rook to get into position early.
Check the movement of the opponent’s “horns”
The horns can easily enter the opposing territory after a few turns. Look closely and observe the movement of your opponent’s horns to avoid getting yours taken.
