A new weapon for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been revealed! Read more to know the details about the Mk14 EBR as well as its real life history/background.

New Weapon – Mk14 EBR

A new weapon will be added to the next monthly update that will be released next week, and it is the 7.62mm Mk14 EBR!

Here is an image of the new weapon that was posted on PUBG’s official Twitter account:

The Mk14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) is classified as a designated marksman rifle (DMR) and uses 7.62mm bullets like the Kar98K and M24 sniper rifles. Although it uses sniper rifle bullets, the Mk14 EBR can fire full-auto, making it a much faster rifle than most SRs found in the game in terms of shot interval.

Although details about the PUBG version of the rifle is still unknown, this rifle may be listed as a top tier weapon based on its real-life counterpart due to its versatility as it can be used as either an assault rifle or a sniper rifle.

History

This rifle is an American DMR that is chambered for the 7.62mm NATO Catridge, a cartridge often used for high-caliber American Rifles (M14, M60, etc.). The Mk14 Enhanced Battle Rifle (EBR) was a more advanced variation of the M14 rifle and was once exclusively used by the United States Special Operations Command (Navy SEALs, Delta Force, and several ODA Units).

The Mk14 EBR was made specifically to carry out both close combat and designated marksman roles in the battlefield, making it a much more versatile weapon than assault rifles and sniper rifles.

It was first used in 2002 and since 2010, the US Army assigns two Mk14 EBRs per infantry platoon for the units that are deployed in the War in Afghanistan.

The Mk14 continued to be a very reliable weapon for American designated marksmen during the Iraq War and the Syrian Civil War.

The Official PUBG stats for this new weapon will be released in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime, you can check out our strategy guide for the SKS, the currently available DMR in the game.
