Ice Wolf Leader Strategies
Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:
Setup strategy to Focus on Healing
Before engaging the boss, set your party strategy to “Focus on Healing”. AI-controlled party members will still deal damage but will change their focus to using healing artes or consuming HP items to recover HP.
Carry HP and CP recovery items
In addition, bring a stock of HP and CP recovery items. These items can be bought from accessible shopkeepers or acquired from normal zeugles as drop items. Include life bottles in your supply and keep CP sustained in order to cast healing artes.
Equip accessories that resist Water Damage and Freeze Status
Furthermore, you can equip characters with accessories that can decrease Water elemental damage and resist Freeze status. This will help you mitigate damage and decrease the chances of getting affected by the ailment during the boss fight.
Cast Buffs
Start the battle by casting buffs to party members if available. Buffs can be in the form of physical and elemental attack increase (Sharpness). This buff can be accessed by Rinwell.
Eliminate Ice Wolfs
Ice Wolf Leader has three ice wolf zeugles as additional minions during the boss fight. They offer a distraction by dealing bite attacks to your casters and healers. Your first priority is to eliminate them as quickly as possible. They will respawn so be ready to clear them out again.
Target Weakpoint
Switch your attack target to the weak spot of the boss in order to core break it. The weak point is the boss’ front right leg. Don’t attack all-out and leave room for evasion.
Use Fire artes
Assign Fire elemental ground and aerial artes to each party member if they have access to it. Make it a point on using these artes most of the time since they deal more damage to the boss. These fire artes can be accessed Alphen and Shionne only.
Evade Attacks
While damaging the boss, it will also execute its attacks against your party:
Boss Attack | Strategy |
---|---|
Claw Attack | When you see the boss moving sideways, get ready to dodge left or right. |
Pounce Attack | When you see the boss leap backward, get ready to leave your spot and evade sideways. |
Flip Attack | When you see the boss leap backward, get ready to leave your spot and evade sideways. |
Ice Meteor | When you see the boss channeling an ice attack, leave your spot and proceed to the corner to avoid getting hit. If you get inflicted by Freeze, use Recover or a Panacea to remove the status. |
Ice Charge | When you see the boss moving back to a corner, get ready to leave your spot and dodge multiple times. If you get inflicted by Freeze, use Recover or a Panacea to remove the status. |
Power-Up Mode | Don’t stay still and be more mobile. Also, confuse and bait the attacks from the boss to let the boost expire. Keep party member’s HP full or sustained in case that they’ll get hit. |
Activate Boost Attacks
Complement your normal and artes with Boost Attacks. Alphen and Rinwell’s boost attacks are highly effective against the boss.
Boost Attack | Strategy |
---|---|
Blazing Sword: Burning Wave | Make use of Alphen’s “Blazing Sword: Burning Wave” as your initiating Boost attack when it’s available. Not only that it will down the boss, but it will also open you for follow-up boost attacks. In addition, it boosts Alphen damage. |
Wing Clip | Utilize Shionne’s “Wing Clip” as follow-up damage to other boost attacks. |
Magic Cancel | Take advantage of Rinwell’s “Magic Cancel” in an attempt to disrupt upcoming attacks that require casting like its Ice Meteor. |
Unleash Boost Strikes
While engaging Ice Wolf Leader, you may build up your Boost Strike gauge. When it’s available, unleash any Boost Strike against the boss. The boss will suffer massive damage so make it a high priority when it’s ready.
