Mesmald Strategies
Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:
Setup Strategy to Focus on Healing
Before engaging the boss, set your party strategy to “Focus on Healing”. AI-controlled party members will still deal damage but will change their focus to using healing artes or consuming HP items to recover HP.
Carry HP and CP Recovery Items
In addition, bring a stock of HP and CP recovery items. These items can be bought from accessible shopkeepers or acquired from normal Zeugles as drop items. Include Life Bottles in your supply and keep CP sustained in order to cast healing and buff artes.
Cast Buffs
Start the battle by casting buffs to party members if available. Buffs can be in the form of physical and elemental attack increase (Sharpness and Steel) and interrupt and critical hit chance increase (Concentrate). These buffs can be accessed by Rinwell and Law.
Target Weakpoints
Switch your attack target to the weak spots of the boss in order to core break it. We do not suggest engaging the head of the boss since you will be susceptible to attacks
We advise focusing your offense on the tail tip of the boss instead. The boss will wag its tail at different direction so adjust you position when dealing damage.
Have any Ground-based and Aerial-based artes
Mesmald has no elemental weaknesses so feel free to choose any damaging artes. Just make sure you have a diverse set of artes that can deal damage from the ground as well as from the air.
Evade and Block Attacks
While damaging the boss, it will also execute its attacks against your party:
Boss Attack | Strategy |
---|---|
Claw Attack | While the boss is raising its claws to hit you, anticipate the attack and dodge/block immediately. |
Fire Blast | When you see the boss about to fly, immediately dodge to another spot or block the attack. You can make use of Shionne’s “Wing Clip” boost attack to counter the attempt. |
Fire Breath | Similarly, the boss will fly but at a higher altitude. Instead of going away, go beneath it and avoid getting hit. Use Shionne’s “Wing Clip” boost attack if available. |
Wind Beam | Don’t stay in front of the boss and dodge sideways quickly. We do not suggest switching to Kisara since you will soak up a lot of damage while the beam stays up for a while. |
God’s Breath | Dodge sideways in one direction multiple times until the beams run out. We suggest circling around the boss while dodging. |
Burning Strike | After a God’ Breath, observe if the boss will unleash a fire blast from the air. Move away from your spot immediately. |
Cyclone | Don’t stay near the boss and get away from the three cyclones before they envelop your character. Get some distance or switch to another character and heal the damaged ally/allies. |
Fire Ball Rain | Find an open space away from the boss. Either dodge from side to side or enable block with Kisara while moving around. You can use Rinwell’s “Magic Cancel” boost attack if available. |
Fire Ball Explosion | Similarly, dodge the target area or switch to Kisara and use her block. Get healed up immediately. |
Activate Boost Attacks
Complement your normal and artes with Boost Attacks. Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and Law’s boost attacks are highly effective against the boss.
Boost Attack | Strategy |
---|---|
Blazing Sword: Burning Wave | Make use of Alphen’s “Blazing Sword: Burning Wave” as your initiating Boost attack when it’s available. Not only that it will down the boss, but it will also open you for follow-up boost attacks. In addition, it boosts Alphen damage. |
Breaker Fist | Follow-up your first boost attack with Law’s “Breaker Fist”. This will lower the defense of the boss. |
Wing Clip | Utilize Shionne’s “Wing Clip” when the boss is about to ascend and unleash attacks from the air. |
Magic Cancel | Take advantage of Rinwell’s “Magic Cancel” in an attempt to disrupt upcoming attacks that require casting. |
Unleash Boost Strikes
While engaging Mesmald, you may build up your Boost Strike gauge. When it’s available, unleash any Boost Strike against the boss. The boss will suffer massive damage so make it a high priority when it’s ready.
