In a tweet posted on September 6th, 2019, Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima confirmed that the new game will have a very easy mode. It is aimed at those who do not usually play video games but are drawn to Death Stranding’s cast of well-known actors.

In an interview with Famitsu, Mr. Kojima shared some details on very easy mode’s features. When playing in this mode, enemies will be easy to defeat. The massive beached thing called the catcher, for instance, can be downed in two to three shots.

It was also mentioned in the interview that the player’s baggage will be easy to balance. As was revealed in gameplay footage, players must prepare their loadout of tools, weapons, and attire that they bring on missions. Since each piece of equipment is accounted for in terms of weight, players must constantly adjust their posture as they travel in the open world.

Balancing cargo will be done manually, even in very easy mode, according to Mr. Kojima. He explained that this mechanic is something even people who are not good at games must practice.

Unfortunately, the confirmed hard mode was not touched upon in the interview. It can, however, be expected that the more challenging difficulty setting will feature stronger enemies, stricter cargo mechanics, and even harsher environmental conditions.
