[Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds / PUBG] One of my first FPP Matches were a Textured, Buggy Mess – A Noob Plays PUBG Episode 4

This is A Noob Plays PUBG Episode 4. Here you will learn all about the sad and pathetic adventures of a noob trying to survive Erangel, in FPP!

A Noob Plays PUBG Episode 4 – FPP!

Session 1

My first attempt at playing in FPP (first person perspective only) mode was not so bad. My friend and I got a decent amount of loot and managed to square a buggy. I think we got a decent amount of stuff before we tried to cross a massive field. Sadly–and predictably, we got pinned down on all sides. Poor me, ko’d, revived and ko’d again.

But the interesting match happened in Session 2.

Session 2: The Textured, Buggy, Mess

At this point, I didn’t know that you could actually pass through walls and pick things up from the ground. Upon landing, I experienced the same texture bug that the game had plagued my gaming experience for a while now. Anyway, we landed near a swamp town and a radio station. My friends got solid loot and I didn’t expect to find any because of the texture bug that caused my whole game to look like melted plastic. I managed to find an P1911 and also an AKM thanks to my squadmates.

The interesting thing about this match is that the spawned ammo and guns on the second floor were actually visible from the first floor.  I didn’t see anything except floating objects or objects on the floor. Some of them I could have picked up, and some I could not. We moved to take a warehouse a few clicks of our location, and my friend found a Level 3 helmet lying on the warehouse floor, which I could not see at all.

We managed to find a UAZ and a Dacia, picking the second for its speed. I asked my buddies to move the vehicle out of the garage it was in so that I could enter.

Anyway, we goofed off a bit, climbing up and down a mountain. On the other side we found a forest with some houses in the distance. We didn’t know the end was so damn near.

In one of the roadside houses, we saw another parked vehicle. Someone was inside, but due to the texture bug I didn’t know what I was seeing. Trying to look for someone down in the house, I went down along with my friends.

Session 3: When it actually got fixed…

I tried landing near Mylta, but there were too many people. Thankfully, the first house I visited in the area held a level three helmet and two AKMs, as well as a bunch of ammunition. I was set for life, you see. Thankfully enough, I was also in the playable area, which meant that, apart from the people shooting at each other from the outside, I was relatively safe.

After bravely trundling out of my womb of safety, I left, crossing a (de)forested area (nice touch), where some trees had been either cut down or destroyed by some kind of phenomenon. Past the dead trees was an apartment complex, which had some solid loot. To go with my level 3 helmet, I had a sweet coat that reminded me of my New Vegas adventures with the NCR ranger outfit, and some ammo. I left to escape the damned force field before it manages to catch up, finding myself in one of the two-storey buildings out there in the forest. There wasn’t much to loot in the first one, but I managed to see another just a few hundred meters up on the mountain.

And this is where I died.

Climbing up the mountain, and entering the second building, I could see that it was looted. (That should have been a no-no), or at the very least, empty. Well, once I got inside, looking out of the window, I heard a crashing noise–the glass of the window had shattered. Bullets whizzed by, and I had the stupid idea of leaving the damn building. (I was probably out of my mind) I was shot to death by invisible assailants, as always.

Summarizing

I guess as a summary, there isn’t much difference when it comes to playing PUBG’s FPP mode. In fact, for shooting I simply switch to it. It’s just “meh”–a little scary around the corners, less reliance on the TPP camera for looking for opponents, etc. So far, it’s workable and–dare I say it–as enjoyable, or even more enjoyable, than vanilla.

The Death List

  1. We drove out into the open field. Don’t go out into an open field.
  2. Died outside trying to storm a house. Hug cover.
  3. Died trying to leave my building while being attacked. HUG COVER.
