Best Weapon for Mario

Super Mario RPG Remake - Mario (Story)

Lazy Shell

The Lazy Shell is the best weapon for Mario, granting him a massive 90 Attack Power. The actual damage numbers achieved with the Lazy Shell, however, tend to fluctuate greatly, as it has a massive random variance of up to 40 points above and below. Despite this, the weapon still far surpasses those available to Mario towards the game’s late stages.

The Lazy Shell is also obtained quicker than most of the strongest armaments for the other characters, allowing Mario to become an offensive powerhouse earlier than his allies.

How to Get the Lazy Shell

The earliest you can get the Lazy Shell is after defeating Valentina. Give the Seed and Fertilizer to the Gardener at Rose Town. After planting the Seed, it will grow into a beanstalk that you can climb to reach the area where the Lazy Shell is.

Alternative: Lucky Hammer

The Lucky Hammer is another good weapon for Mario. Despite having 0 Attack Power, you gain a chance to obtain a Lucky Bonus Flower for timed hits. This makes it a useful weapon to have when farming Coins and EXP triggered via the Lucky bonus game as it can double the amount you earn for each resource in battle.

How to Get the Lucky Hammer

The Lucky Hammer can be purchased for 123 Coins at Seaside Town after defeating Speardovich.

Sage Stick (Switch Remake Version)

The best weapon for Mallow in the remake version of the game is the Sage Stick that provides the Nimbus Prince with 80 Attack Power. The Sage Stick replaces the Sonic Cymbal as Mallow’s end-game armament as a means for him to contribute to the team offensively using normal attacks while conserving FP.

How to Get the Sage Stick

The Sage Stick is obtained by defeating Scratchy-Throat Belome (post-game rematch) in Belome Temple.

Sonic Cymbal (Original NES Version)

The best weapon for Mallow in the original version of the game is the Sonic Cymbal which boasts 70 Attack Power (with a random variance of up to 7 points above and below).

How to Get the Sonic Cymbal

The Sonic Cymbal is obtained from a treasure chest at one of the Action Course challenges in Bowser’s Castle.

Stella 023 (Switch Remake Version)

The best weapon for Geno in the remake version of the game is the Stella 023. This new armament edges out his original end-game weapon (Star Gun) by giving Geno 62 attack power. Similarly to Mallow’s Sage Stick, Stella 023 is used as a means for Geno to save FP by granting him strong normal attacks.

How to Get the Stella 023

The Stella 023 is obtained by defeating Engine 023 Booster (post-game rematch) in Booster Tower.

Star Gun (Original NES Version)

The best weapon for Geno in the original version of the game is the Star Gun which grants him 57 Attack Power (with a random variance of up to 7 points above and below).

Wonder Chomp (Switch Remake Version)

The best weapon for Bowser in the remake version of the game is the Wonder Chomp which boasts 57 Attack Power, far surpassing the Drill Claw for King Koopa to finally output decent end-game damage numbers using normal attacks. Despite this, Bowser will still lag behind most attackers like Mario and Geno even with the Wonder Chomp, though the hulking reptilian is not as irrelevant damage-wise this time around.

How to Get the Wonder Chomp

The Wonder Chomp is obtained by defeating Leveled-Up Punchinello (post-game rematch) in Mole Mines.

Super Mario RPG Remake Best Bowser Build

Best Weapon for Peach

Super Mario RPG Remake - Peach (Story)

Frying Pan

The best weapon for Peach is the Frying Pan which grants the princess a massive 90 Attack power on par with Mario’s Lazy Shell. While initially only filling the role of support during the early stages, Peach turns into the best character in the game as she is essentially becomes capable of healing, applying debuffs, and outputting massive damage numbers for the team.

How to Get the Frying Pan

The Frying Pan can be purchased from the Toad’s shop in Moleville after defeating the Axem Rangers at Barrel Volcano.
