How to Beat Croco (Second Battle) Guide for Super Mario RPG Remake

Strategy to Beat Croco (Second Battle)
  • Use your items before they get stolen.
  • Use normal attacks

Use your items before they get stolen.

Croco has new abilities in your second battle, including a skill that can steal your items. Because of this, it is wise to use your items before they get stolen. If your items are stolen, you won’t be able to recover your HP and FP, leaving you in a situation wherein the boss has the advantage throughout the battle.

Use normal attacks

Aside from new skills, Croco now has high magic defense, making most of your special attacks ineffective. Therefore, it is better to use your FP for Mallow’s healing ability and use normal attacks instead of special attacks.

Croco (Second Battle) Skills and Moveset

Steal Item

When Croco’s HP drops to a certain amount, he will then start to steal items from your inventory. If you ever run out of recovery items, use your FP for Mallow’s healing ability to recover your party members’ HP. Don’t spend FP on your special attacks since the boss has high resistance to elemental damage.

Bomb Toss

This attack is the same as the one that Croco uses during your first battle, but with improved damage. You can buy the new items from the Tool Shop to reduce the damage you take from Croco’s attacks.

Chomp

Chomp is the most powerful attack that Croco has in his arsenal. What makes it even more powerful is that you may not be able to recover the damage you took from this attack because of Croco’s ability to steal your items. However, you can still use Mallow’s HP Rain as an alternative healing option, but make sure to carefully manage your FP because if you run out of FP, you will no longer have access to this skill.

Best Party Setup and Equipment

Best Characters

  • Mario – Has strong physical normal attacks.
  • Mallow – Support and healer. He can keep your party members healthy.
  • Geno – Has strong physical normal attacks.

During the boss fight, you will be able to use the 3 members above. Mallow will play a huge role in this battle, as he will be the only one who can provide healing to your party without using items.

Best Equipment

  • Perfect Pants – increases the wearer’s defense and attack power.

It is recommended to defeat Croco as soon as you can, thus making the Perfect Pants valuable during this fight. The Perfect Pants, despite having low defense, give the wearer additional attack power that can make a difference in the battle. Since you only have limited recovery options, it is ideal to end the battle quickly.

More Information about Croco (Second Battle)

Weakness

Croco has high magic resistance, but he is still weak to fire just like the first time you fought him. However, you may run out of recovery items, so it is better if you spend your FP on Mallow’s HP Rain instead of special attacks.

Location

The battle with Croco (Second Battle) will take place in the Moleville Mines. You will have to chase him a couple times before the boss fight starts. Before heading into the boss fight, explore the mines and look for the Flower Tab.
