How to Beat Hammer Bros Guide for Super Mario RPG Remake

Strategy to Beat Hammer Bros
  • Recover your HP and FP before heading into the battle.
  • Use Jump Attack to defeat the first brother.
  • Get some mushrooms and prepare for a long battle.

Recover your HP and FP before heading into the battle.

Before heading into the Hammer Bros boss fight, make sure to restore both your HP and FP. You can recover them by examining the mushrooms in Mario’s house.

Use Jump Attack to defeat the first brother.

Mario’s Jump Attack is highly effective against the Hammer Bros. Use the Jump Attack on both of the Hammer Bros at least once, then focus your attacks on one of them until it is defeated. This will make it easier to deal with the one that will be left behind because once you defeat one of them, the last of the brothers will use a skill that will boost its defense, thus dealing damage while it still has no defense boost will make it much easier to deal with later.

Get some mushrooms and prepare for a long battle.

After you defeat one of the Hammer Bros, the one that is still alive will use the “Valor Up” skill, which increases the user’s defense. Because of this, the boss fight might take quite some time, and you may need healing items to outlast your enemies. Pick up the mushrooms along the Mash Road and save them for the boss fight.

Hammer Bros Skills and Moveset

Hammer Time

If Mario is hit with the Hammer Bros’ Hammer Time skill, he will lose around 10 HP. So watch out for this skill and your HP as well, especially when both of the Hammer Bros are still alive. Use your mushrooms to recover Mario’s HP by 30 and defeat one of the brothers as soon as possible.

Valor Up

The Valor Up skill increases the user’s defense and attack power. However, the Hammer Bros will only use this skill once you defeat one of them. It is recommended to use a Jump Attack once on each brother before taking out one of them. This will make it easier to defeat the last one before it boosts its defense.

More Information about the Hammer Bros

Weakness

The Hammer Bros are both weak to Jump Attacks and Fire. But during the early stages of the game, your FP is low, thus making the Jump Attack more efficient as it consumes less FP compared to Fire attacks.

Location

You will encounter the Hammer Bros on your way to the Mushroom Kingdom. Your main objective in this boss fight is to help the Toad that the Hammer Bros are holding captive.
