Sixth Star Piece Walkthrough Tips

Collect Frog Coins at Sky Bridge.

You can get a good amount of Frog Coins and regular Coins by clearing the mini games at the Sky Bridge of Land’s End.

You will need Coins to do the mini game, though the potential payoff in Frog Coins is more than worth it.

Follow the Shogun through the sinkholes at the desert area.

You will need to use the sinkholes at the desert area to reach Belome Temple from Bean Valley.

Be sure to follow the Shogun through the holes as going inside one without the ant monster will return you to the previous location.

Get the Belome Temple Key in Monstro Town.

Talk to Thwomp in Monstro Town 7 times to make the Belome Temple Key drop from the high spot.

Optional bosses in Monstro Town.

There are two very powerful optional bosses that you can battle while in Monstro Town. Avoid taking them on now as you are likely to be no match for them at your current level.

Going to Grate Guy’s Casino via Bean Valley.

You can reach Grate Guy’s Casino by opening a path from the clay pipe at Bean Valley.

To gain access to the casino, use the clay pipe closest to the save point in the area just before the fight against Megasmilax.

Get the Fertilizer in Nimbus Land after defeating Valentina.

After defeating Valentina, you can get the Fertilizer needed to obtain the powerful Lazy Shells (weapon and armor version) later by walking on the invisible path southeast of Nimbus Land.

The weapon version of the Lazy Shell, in particular, is the best weapon for Mario so be sure to grab the key item at Nimbus Land.

Sixth Star Piece Boss Strategies

Defeat Belome at Belome Temple.

Belome will summon copies of your party members to fight for him. Because of this, feel free to organize your active party to make it easier for you to deal with the clones.

Since you will be dealing with multiple enemies during the fight, try to use multi-target attacks as much as possible (like Geno’s Geno Blast) to thin out the opponent’s numbers.

Fear is also effective against Belome so Bowser will also be useful in the battle.

Defeat Megasmilax.

A key strategy to defeating Megasmillax is to avoid getting inflicted with the Mushroom or Scarecrow status. Be sure to equip the Safety Ring on Peach if she is in your active party so you can heal and cure other characters during the fight.

The Smilax are weak to ice and can be dealt with using Mallow’s Snowy.

Defeat Dodo (if you fail the mini game).

You can reduce Dodo’s damage output using Action Commands. Dodo is not very hard to deal with so just pummel him with strong attacks.

Note that you will not be able to get useful Feather accessory from Dodo if you defeat him by failing the stealth mini game. Just reload a save if you want to redo the mini game to get the item.

Defeat Shelly/Birdo.

After dealing enough damage to Shelly, Birdo will hatch from it which marks the beginning of the real fight.

When fighting Birdo, try to target the eggs that she sends out as taking them out will deal fixed damage to the boss. Note that Birdo will not die from the egg explosion damage so be sure to land the finishing blow on her to end the fight.

Defeat Valentina and Dodo.

Valentina and Dodo are a formidable boss duo so be sure to bring Peach to heal everyone during the fight. This allows you to keep the party alive against Valentina’s powerful all-target attacks.

Note that Dodo can force a 1v1 fight against your second character so organize your party by placing Mario on the left, Bowser in the center (your second character who will take on Dodo), and Peach or Mallow on the right.

You should also make sure that characters have Mushroom and Sleep resistance by equipping the Safety Badge or Safety Ring.

Defeat Czar Dragon/Zombone.

Before traveling to Barrel Volcano, try to gain a few levels as the Czar Dragon/Zombone deals massive damage with its attacks. Do not hesitate to stock up on healing items and equip everyone with better armor to prepare for the fight.

After the Czar Dragon is defeated, it will immediately transform into the Zombone so having enough lasting power is recommended.

Have Mallow use Snowy on the Helio that the Czar Dragon summons to wipe them out quickly. Afterwards, bombard the boss himself with Snowy. You will want Mallow’s turn to come after the boss summons the adds so equip Amulet to lower his speed.

As always, Peach should cover healing duties to keep the party’s HP up at all times.

When Czar Dragon is revived as Zombone, burst him down using Mario’s Jump attacks or have Mallow cast Shocker to exploit the boss’ weakness to lightning. Heal when you need to and Zombone should go down easily.

Defeat Axem Rangers.

It is recommended to take out Pink Axem Ranger (the enemy healer) and Green Axem Ranger (uses multi-target magic). Afterwards, take out the remaining enemies in this order: Black, Yellow, and Red.

During the second half of the fight, be sure to have everyone’s HP above 150 to withstand Breaker Beam. Try to reserve FP for Peach to fully heal or revive party members throughout the fight (since the enemy team will get more turns than you, try to keep everyone at or near full HP as you may not be able to get your turn in time).

Be sure Peach is equipped with Safety Ring while other characters should have Mushroom and Sleep resistance.
