  • Equip characters with gear that resists elemental attacks.
  • Focus on taking down each Elemental Crystal during the fight.
  • Buff the party with Geno Boost but be prepared to reapply it multiple times during the fight.
  • Save FP for Geno’s Geno Flash to deal damage to all targets.
  • Bring as many healing items as you can.

Equip characters with gear that resist elemental attacks.

It is highly recommended for the party to equip accessories that negates or reduces magic damage dealt by the Elemental Crystals. Below are some recommended pieces of gear to use, especially for support character like Peach and Mallow who are responsibly for keeping the team alive using skills.

Super Mario RPG Remake Best Accessories for Each Character

Focus on taking down each Elemental Crystal during the fight.

Each enhanced Elemental Crystal fighting alongside Culex 3D will deal strong magic damage (based on their color) even if you have some of the accessories above equipped. In addition, they some of the Elemental Crystals can use attacks that various status ailments on their target.

Focus on having the team attack a crystal based on the enemy’s weaknesses as shown in the table below.

Buff the party with Geno Boost but be prepared to reapply it multiple times during the fight.

Be sure to set up Geno Boost on your main attackers to increase their damage output and defense against Culex 3D and the Elemental Crystals. Culex 3D, however, can remove any buffs you apply on the team so reapply Geno Boost when you need to.

Save FP for Geno’s Geno Flash.

You can whittle down the HP of each Elemental Crystal by using Geno’s Geno Flash attack which is not affected by attribute resistances that the crystals have. It also helps that the multi-target move can also chip away at Culex 3D’s own HP, making the FP cost more efficient.

Use Triple Moves to stack damage on Culex 3D.

Once Culex 3D is alone, pull out all the stops and unleash the Star Riders Triple Move with Mario, Geno, and Mallow. The powerful attack is essentially a huge source of damage that does not expend any FP to use.

The fight against Culex 3D is the game’s hardest battle so do not hesitate to burn through all of your Pick Me Ups and other healing items to seize victory. For this reason, stock up on as many consumables as you can before fighting the secret superboss.

To begin the post-game Rematch Battles, head to the Marrymore Hotel after getting the Stay Voucher from Toad. Spending the night at the hotel will then trigger new story events that lets you return to previous areas to battle enhanced versions of bosses in the game.
