How to Beat Punchinello Guide for Super Mario RPG Remake

Strategy to Beat Punchinello
  • Focus your attacks on the boss.
  • Equip Fearless Pin on your party members.
  • Don’t use Mario’s Jump Attack.
  • Block the bombs.

Focus your attacks on the boss.

Punchinello can summon 4 small bombs at the start of the battle and a big bomb when his HP drops to a certain level. Since he will keep on summoning bombs, it is better to shift your focus to the boss rather than his summoned bombs.

Equip Fearless Pin on your party members.

Before heading into the boss fight, make sure to equip the Fearless Pin on your party members. Wearing the Fearless Pin will protect its wearer from Fear status ailment, and since the boss has the ability to inflict Fear status on your party, it is recommended to equip the item with one of your party members.

Don’t use Mario’s Jump Attack.

Punchinello has high resistance against Mario’s Jump attack. Therefore, it is recommended that you make use of other skills rather than the Jump attack to avoid wasting your FP.

Block the bombs.

You can destroy the bombs that appear at the start of the boss fight by using Mallow’s Thunderbolt. However, the boss’ larger bombs have significant magic defense, rendering Thunderbolt useless against them. Instead of trying to destroy the bombs, just block the upcoming damage.

Punchinello Skills and Moveset

Summon Bob-ombs

The Bob-ombs are small bombs that can you easily wipe out using Mallow’s Thunderbolt attack.

Summon Mezzo Bombs

Mezzo Bombs are the larger bombs that will self-destruct and explode, doing damage to one of your party members. Continue to hit the boss and try to block the Mezzo Bombs when they explode.

Sand Storm

The Sand Storm deals damage to your entire party and inflicts Fear on them. Equip the Fearless Pin to prevent getting Fear status from this attack.

Best Party Setup and Equipment

Best Characters

  • Mario – main damage dealer with high physical attack power.
  • Mallow – has the ability to instantly destroy small bombs.
  • Geno – has the ability to increase your party’s attack power and defense by using Geno Boost.

Focus all your attacks on Punchinello, and let Mallow destroy the small bombs at the start of the fight. You also use Geno’s Geno Boost to increase your damage to defeat the boss sooner.

Best Equipment

  • Fearless Pin – gives the wearer immunity to Fear status ailment.

Equip the Fearless Pin to avoid getting Fear status from Punchinello’s Sand Storm.

More Information about Punchinello
