Super Mario RPG Remake - How to Beat Croco

How to Beat Croco Guide for Super Mario RPG Remake

Strategy to Beat Croco
  • Use Fire attacks.
  • Use Mallow as a support.
  • Prepare consumable items for a long battle.

Use Mario’s Fire Orb attack

Croco is vulnerable and weak against Fire attacks. Thus, using Mario’s Fire Orb attack will deal significant damage to the boss. Use fire attacks as much as possible, and use items that can recover your FP when it runs low.

Additionally, once you hit Croco with a Fire attack for the first time, it will set him on fire and prevent him from moving for one turn.

Use Mallow as a support

Since Mallow’s attack power is a little bit low, it is much better to use him as a support who will restore the party’s HP and restore Mario’s FP. Because of the large amount of FP that is required for Mario’s Fire Orb attack, you should take advantage of Mallow’s turn to restore his FP by using Honey Syrup on him. Doing this will keep the damage going and eventually defeat Croco.

Prepare consumable items for a long battle.

Croco possesses a high HP and has the ability to restore his own HP. It will be troublesome if Mario always runs out of FP and won’t be able to use his Fire Orb attack, so it is recommended to bring some Honey Syrup to this boss fight. Honey Syrup can be bought from the Mushroom Castle Tool Shop for 10 coins.

Croco Skills and Moveset

Bomb Toss

This attack is more powerful than the boss’ normal attack. It deals approximately 20 HP to one of your party members, and the damage may still go up depending on your current level and equipment. With that being said, it is recommended to buy the “Shirt” from the shop in order to strengthen your defense.

Weird Mushroom

The Weird Mushroom allows Croco to recover 60 HP every time he uses it. It is recommended to keep using Mario’s Fire Orb attack to counter his healing ability.

Best Party Setup and Equipment

Best Characters

  • Mario – Main damage dealer and has a Fire attack.
  • Mallow – Healer and support.

This is the first time that you will fight a boss with a party member. It is recommended to use Mario as your main damage dealer, as he can use Fire attacks, which is the boss’ weakness. Mallow, on the other hand, does not have high attack power at this point, so it is better to use him as a support that is responsible for the party’s HP and FP recovery.

Best Equipment

  • Shirt – Increases your defense and reduces damage from enemies.
  • Pants – Increases your defense and reduces damage from enemies.

Buy the equipment listed above to reduce Croco’s damage to your party. These items can be bought from the Tool Shop before going to Bandit’s Way.

More Information about Croco

Weakness

Croco is extremely weak against fire. When hit with a fire attack for the first time, it will set his tail on fire, making him lose a turn. Use fire attacks as much as possible to defeat the boss and counter his healing ability.

Location

The boss fight will occur in the inner parts of Bandit’s Way. Chase Croco and approach him 3 times to start the boss fight.
