First Star Piece Walkthrough for Super Mario RPG Remake
Star Piece 1 Walkthrough Summary
The first Star Piece is obtained once you defeat Mack in Mushroom Castle. Upon reaching Mushroom Kingdom, be sure to loot all chests (including the hidden one) as some of items can only be obtained during your first visit. Do not forget to save at the inn for this purpose.
If you find Mack too hard to take down, gaining a few levels or bringing Pick Me Ups before heading into the fight.

First Star Piece Walkthrough Tips
The hidden chest at Mushroom Castle can only be obtained during your first visit.
A hidden chest can be found in the hallway where you can ride on Toad (just before the door).
If you do not open the chest now, you will not be able to do later. If this happens, reload your save and start from the inn again to find the chest.
Loot the items found in the Mushroom Castle warehouse after talking to the Mushroom Chancellor and after Mack attacks.
The items inside the Mushroom Castle warehouse can be obtained once you talk to the Mushroom Chancellor for the first time.
Afterwards, progress through the area until Mack and his minions attack. You can head back to the warehouse to loot the items there again.
Loot the items in the room across the warehouse during Mack’s attack.
You can obtain accessories inside the room just across the warehouse once Mack starts his attack. Be sure to pick up the Wake Up Pin as this useful accessory gives you resistance to Sleep and Mute.
First Star Piece Boss Strategies
Defeat Bowser at Bowser’s Castle.
Instead of targeting Bowser, focus your attacks on the Chandelier behind him. Doing so allows you to easily end the fight instead of depleting Bowser’s HP. Be sure to use Jump as this deals massive damage on targets.

Defeat Hammer Bros at Mario’s Pad.
Use Jump to quickly take out one of the Hammer Bros. Do not hesitate to use Mushrooms if you need to heal during the fight.

Defeat Croco at Bandit’s Road.
You may want to earn a few levels before taking on Croco at Bandit’s Road or bring some Pick Me Ups to help you survive his attacks.
Have Mallow focus on healing the party and defending while Mario deals damage to Croco. Try to keep both characters’ HP as near to full as possible as Croco can deal a lot of damage.
Super Mario RPG Remake How to Beat Croco (1st Battle)
Defeat Mack at Mushroom Castle.
Have Mallow use Thunderbolt to deal damage to all enemies, including Mack, during the fight. Mack’s minions can consistently deal big damage on any of your characters so try to take them out first before focusing on Mack.
Be sure to watch Mallow’s HP as he cannot take too many hits himself and heal as needed.
