The story is set in Mario World
The story is set in Mario World. Mario heads to Bowser’s Castle to rescue Princess Peach, who was kidnapped by Bowser and safely reaches Princess Peach. Suddenly a giant sword and a star piece come from the sky and stab into Bowser’s Castle, and the story begins.
Kajio plans to conquer Mario World
In the world of Super Mario RPG, Kajio is plotting to conquer Mario World. Kajio is the mastermind who mass-produces companions with weapon motifs in a weapon factory inside a giant sword (Calibur).
Collaboration work with Square Enix
Super Mario RPG is a collaboration work with Square Enix. This is the first RPG in the Super Mario series and in addition to the familiar Goombas and Patapata from the Mario series, you can enjoy battles with enemies original to Super Mario RPG. In addition, when attacking and defending in battle, “Action Commands” have been implemented to temporarily increase the performance of each action button when pressed at a specific timing, allowing you to enjoy Square Enix innovative battle system.
There are hints of past Mario series game
Super Mario RPG has traces of past Mario series games. Some dungeons require action operations unique to Mario, making it a game that allows you to enjoy things other than battles.
Story Summary
Mario heads to Bowser’s Castle to save Peach who was kidnapped by Bowser. Just as he is relieved that he has won the battle with Bowser, a giant sword suddenly appears from the sky and pierces Bowser’s castle.
In order to repair Star Lord, which was destroyed by the giant sword and restore a peaceful world where people’s wishes come true, Mario and his friends collect Star Pieces scattered around the world. A slightly different adventure begins.

Mallow
Mallow is one of the original characters in Super Mario RPG. Mario meets Mallow at the Mushroom Castle and becomes friends with him after he recovers a wallet stolen by Croc.

In Super Mario RPG, Bowser joins as a companion. He forcibly joins the teams as if to cover up the situation when he is left alone after Bowser Castle is taken by Kajio and the Bowser Army’s subordinates run away.

In Super Mario RPG you battle against enemies by making full use of action commands. There are action commands for attack and defense and by pressing buttons at specific windows during battle it will improve your attack or defense performance.
