How to Beat Johnny Guide for Super Mario RPG Remake

Strategy to Beat Johnny
  • Keep one of Johnny’s allies alive.
  • Inflict Fear on the enemies.

Keep one of Johnny’s allies alive.

In this boss fight, Johnny will have allies alongside him. If you defeat all of them, Mario and Johnny will engage in a one-on-one battle, making this battle difficult and complicated. Therefore, you must keep one of his allies alive and then switch your focus to Johnny.

Inflict Fear on the enemies.

Bowser’s Terrorize is effective against Johnny and his Blue Bandana allies. With that being said, it is recommended to put Bowser in the party and take advantage of his fear-inflicting skill.

Johnny Skills and Moveset

Pierce (Bandana Blue)

An attack that can be used by Bandana Blue. It is more powerful than their normal attack, but its damage can be reduced by blocking.

Bandana Blue has no resistance against status ailments, making Bowser’s Terrorize highly effective against them.

Skewer

An attack that is usually used by enemies equipped with spears. Johnny is capable of this attack, but just like the Pierce, it deals less damage if blocked perfectly.

Get Tough!

A special defensive skill that will boost Johnny’s attack and defense. When Johnny’s HP drops to a certain level, he will use this skill to raise his stats, allowing him to deal more damage to your party and reducing your damage to the boss as well.

Diamond Saw

A powerful attack that deals damage to a single target. It is recommended to inflict Fear on Johnny in order to reduce this attack’s damage.

Mega Drain

The Mega Drain attack is probably the most dangerous attack that Johnny has in his arsenal. Since this attack cannot be blocked, you must keep your party members’ HP high at all times to prevent being knocked down instantly.

Best Party Setup and Equipment

Best Characters

  • Bowser – has the ability to inflict Fear on enemies, which reduces their damage when applied.
  • Geno – has the ability to increase your party members’ attack power by using his Geno Boost skill.

Because of Bowser’s and Geno’s skills, it is highly recommended to put them on your team for this battle. With the use of Bowser’s Terrorize, you can reduce the boss’ attack, which will allow you to survive his attacks. Geno, on the other hand, can increase your party members’ attack power to cancel out Johnny’s ability to increase his defense.

Best Equipment

  • Any equipment that increases your stats.

Johnny does not possess any attacks that can inflict status ailments. Therefore, it is ideal to equip your characters with equipment that raises their stats.

More Information about Johnny

Weakness

Johnny has no specific weakness, but he also does not have significant resistance against physical and elemental attacks. Meanwhile, his allies, Blue Bandana, are weak to Fire and Lightning.

Location

You will encounter Johnny in the deepest part of the Sunken Ship. Prepare a lot of recovery items before you proceed to the Sunken Ship, as it is filled with enemies.
