How to Level Up Fast in Super Mario RPG Remake
Tips for Leveling
Equip the Exp. Booster to earn more EXP.
To level up fast, equip a character with the Exp. Booster accessory which doubles the amount of EXP you earn in battle. The item can be purchased from Frogfucius’ Student in Seaside Town for 22 Frog Coins.
Note that inactive party members will still gain double EXP while wearing the Exp. Booster even when they do not participate in battle.
Defeat enemies that yield high amounts of EXP.
You will also level up fast by farming enemies that yield a lot of EXP. One of the best ones to farm during the late-stages, for instance, is the Man Made Speardovich found in The Gate (Factory). Defeating them lets you level up fairly quickly to reach the level up, especially when having a character equip the Exp. Booster mentioned above.
Invincibility Star EXP Farming Trick
You can easily farm areas for EXP as many times as you like by exploiting the invincibility period you gain from obtaining Invincibility Stars. This lets you defeat enemies during the duration that you are invulnerable. When the effect wears off, you must purposefully wipe out against a strong enemy (usually a boss) to force you to restart from the save point while keeping the EXP you previously accumulated before dying.
Please note that this exploit was doable in the original version of Super Mario RPG. This may no longer work in Super Mario RPG Remake (to be confirmed).
Steps to Do the Invincibility Star EXP Farming Trick
1 | Save your game before picking up an Invincibility Star. |
---|---|
2 | Keep defeating enemies while invulnerable. |
3 | When the effect of the Invincibility Star wears off, head to the location of a strong enemy or boss. |
4 | Wipe out on purpose. |
5 | When you restart from the save point, repeat the steps 2 to 4. |
Best Areas to Farm EXP
Kero Sewers (Early Stages)
A good area to farm EXP near the beginning of the game is at Kero Sewers. Try to spend time earning a few levels here if you can before progressing through the main story.
1 | Get the Invincibility Star in the area where the Rat Funks are gathering. |
---|---|
2 | Proceed deeper in the area. |
3 | Get wiped out by Pandorite. |
The Sea (Middle Stages)
As you progress to the middle stages, you can farm enemies found at sea.
1 | Get the Invincibility Star in the area where are a lot of Zeostars. |
---|---|
2 | Proceed deeper in the area. |
3 | Get wiped out by Leuko. |
Nimbus Land
Nimbus Land just before you fight Valentina is also among the best places to earn EXP as it lets you fight many enemies before getting wiped out on purpose by Dodo.
1 | Save your game at the back of the palace. |
---|---|
2 | Go through the 2 map areas to get Invincibility Stars. |
3 | Progress further while defeating more enemies. |
4 | Get wiped out by Dodo. |
Belome Temple
You can use up to two (2) Invincibility Stars at Belome Temple to level up by getting wiped out on purpose. Just make be careful of taking a Invincibility Star before saving as you may not be able to level up efficiently using this method.
1 | Save your game while on the first map area. |
---|---|
2 | Get the Invincibility Star. Then, proceed further while defeating the enemies. |
3 | Buy a Invincibility Star from the Shaman for 400 Coins. |
4 | Take out the surrounding enemies. |
5 | Get wiped out by Mokura (before Belome fight). |
