How to Get 100 Coins in Midas River Mini Game
You can try to get 36 Coins in the waterfall course and 64 Coins in the river course to bag a total of 100 Coins during the mini game. Below are some tips to help you reach this goal.
Waterfall Course Tips
Avoid the holes in the waterfall course.
To get 100 Coins during the mini game, try to avoid going into the holes during the waterfall course. Some of these areas do contain Flowers, though there is also one where enemies are waiting to steal your Coins.
Because of this, just focus on moving around the watery maze until you can rack up 100 Coins from the mini game.
What are in the holes?
Below is a summary of what you can find in five (5) holes scattered around the waterfall course.
Hole | Details |
---|---|
North Hole | Nothing. |
West Hole | A Flower can be obtained here (one-time only). |
East Hole | Enemies are waiting to steal your Coins here. |
Southwest Hole | A Frog Coin can be obtained here. |
Southeast Hole | A Flower can be obtained here (one-time only). |
Swim up using the B button.
You can try to swim a short distance upwards by using the B button. Be warned that doing this rapidly four times will cause Mario to plummet down so only do one to three presses in timed intervals to avoid this.
Barrel Jumping River Course Tips
Grab 4 Coins at a time.
A good strategy to get 64 Coins in the river course is to try and grab 4 Coins at a time before hitting or jumping to a new barrel. Below is a simple sequence to help you easily collect the Coins in a total of 4 cycles.
Grab a Coin and bump into the barrel → Grab 4 Coins and jump across to the barrel → Grab 4 Coins and jump across to the barrel → Grab 4 Coins and bump into the barrel → Grab 4 Coins → Repeat from the start (4 times in total).
Remember that bumping into a barrel allows you to change your route while jump across to a new barrel lets you maintain your course. Be careful of the fish that jump out of the water as you will lose Coins if they hit you.
Collecting Frog Coins
You can collect Frog Coins in the waterfall course by grabbing the one that appears on the right near the starting point. Then, swim down to the left path of the course to pick up more Frog Coins. Finally, go into the southwest hole (the second hole on the left path as you come down) to get another Frog Coin.
Midas Mini Game Rewards
You will get Frog Coins as rewards for clearing the Midas River mini game based on the total amount of Coins you collected during the waterfall and river course.
Reward | How to Get |
---|---|
Frog Coin x1 | Get at least 60 Coins after clearing the waterfall and river courses for the first time. Afterwards, the requirement will be raised to a minimum of 80 coins. |
Frog Coin x5 | Get 100 Coins after clearing the waterfall and river courses. |
