How to Get the Extra Shiny Stone in Super Mario RPG Remake
Rewarded for defeating Duel-Ready Johnny at the Sunken Ship (Post-Game Boss Rematch).
The Extra Shiny Stone in Super Mario RPG Remake is obtained after clearing the post-game Boss Rematch battle against Duel-Ready Johnny at the Sunken Ship.
This version of Johnny is much more formidable than his story counterpart and can only be fought one-on-one using Mario. Be sure to prepare Mario’s gear and be at a significantly high level before taking on Johnny in the Rematch Battle.

What is the Extra Shiny Stone?
Key item required to battle Culex 3D (Boss Rematch) in Monstro Town.
The Extra Shiny Stone is a new post-game key item in the remake. It is required to open the sealed door in Monstro Town where the superboss Culex 3D can be fought. Culex in his enhanced form is poses the game’s ultimate challenge which will significantly test even the most experienced players in the game.
Keep in mind that the Extra Shiny Stone is different from the Shiny Stone, the latter of which only lets you battle the 2D version of Culex who is much weaker than the 3D variant.
Super Mario RPG Remake How to Get Shiny Stone
As with most Rematch Battles, you should only attempt to battle Culex 3D after decking out your party with the strongest weapons, armor, and accessories, in addition to a healthy stock of healing items for good measure.
Defeating Culex 3D is required for completing the Monster List if you are aiming for 100% completion.
Note that you must take down Culex 3D to obtain the Monster Trophy key item (rewarded for completing the Monster List).
Culex 3D himself will yield the Crystal Shard upon defeat which has no use in the game aside from simply being proof that you have bested the remake’s hardest boss.
