Let Julian tank damage.
Julian’s skills and abilities focus on taking the brunt of incoming damage for the party. He has two passive abilities (Iron Wall Defense IV and Hit Me) that both reduce the damage he takes, making him very tough to take down. His Princess Guard ability, meanwhile, grants him a high chance of redirecting damage done to allies to himself.
Gain increased strength and spirit with Tiger Shark formation.
Julian gains +50% in strength, dexterity, and spirit while greatly increases chances of being targeted by enemies in Tiger Shark formation. While not an attacker, Julian will benefit from increased strength in long battles by steadily contributing to offense. Having increased spirit for him is also nice to prevent him from being afflicted with status ailments.
Viable alternatives to party members
Except for Julian, all other members indicated in this setup can be replaced with other characters. Switch out positions 2 to 5 if you do not have any of these styles or if you want to adapt to more specific situations in battle.

Parry-focused Setup
The parry setup is centered around avoiding damage using a dedicated parry character. This party combination does well in long battles, particularly against enemies with strong single-target attacks.
While it does require some luck to trigger parries, it is viable enough for most high difficulty quests even with low strength characters.
Increase Hate on Parry Character
It is important to accumulate as much hate on the parrying character to be able to waste the enemy’s turn. To do this, the type of formation to use is important.

Switch Out Other Party Members
With the exception of Polka, Ellen, and Rouge, feel free to switch out positions 2 and 5 depending on the enemies you will encounter. You can choose to add a secondary stat debuffer or a style which can inflict paralyze to even the odds against hard hitting enemies.
Paralyze is particularly good for allowing Polka to recover BP as your team’s survival heavily depends on his ability to parry incoming attacks.
A Healer is Recommended.
Your party will be left vulnerable to attacks if Parry is not activated. For these situations, it is good to have a dedicated healer to keep your team alive. If you cannot shut down the enemy’s attacks using paralyze, have a good support character ready to restore HP.

Focuses on Preemptive strikes
By adopting the free flight 1 formation, attackers are granted a +50% increase in agility. The boost in speed allows them to attack enemies before they can act.
Very Good for Grinding Quests and High Level Content
Kuhn’s Spirit Palm (from inheritance) is good for attacking all enemies when grinding quests, allowing for very easy operation.
Aside from benefiting from the firepower of the attackers, you will be able to spam strength debuffs (Submission), which is useful against hard-hitting enemies and bosses.
Struggles Against Enemies with Vertical Line Attacks
This setup is not recommended for quests with enemies that spam vertical line attacks. Try to switch to a different formation or party setup altogether for these kinds of encounters.
A good alternative to this is the Rapid Stream formation.

Based on the comparison above, the Free Flight 1 formation is best used with a healer in the party. The Rapid Stream formation, meanwhile, is suited for an all-out offensive setup.

Relies on Triggering Entrusted Hope Multiple Times
This setup is built around sustaining allies at the cost of the character with Entrusted Hope being knocked out many times. This is particularly effective in high level content against tough and hard-hitting enemies where you expect battle to be quite drawn out.
Note that this setup is not recommended against enemies that frequently inflict stun. This is because Entrusted Hope will not activate if the character who has the ability is knocked out while stunned.
Flexibility in Switching Out Attackers
Attackers can be freely customized for this setup, allowing you to adapt to enemies encountered in different quests. Be sure to exploit damage type weaknesses and resistances to have the upper hand in battle. It is also possible to include a dedicated debuff character or one that can inflict status ailments to further expand possible strategies using this setup.
