Party Formation Guide
Formation is a mechanic that can offer benefits to the party such as boosting stats depending on the formation when it’s maxed out. You can acquire more formations by hitting milestones like completing certain chapters or using medals. So far, there are 16 formations to choose from.
New Formations
Aside from the returning formations, the mobile version will feature three new formations. You can obtain these from Bartelmy’s Secret Training.
Tiger Shark
By default, this formation boosts strength, dexterity, and WIL by 50% at the expense of drawing the enemies attention more. The formation can be suitable for units like Nora and Michael.
Colorful Rangers
Colorful Rangers boosts various stats like Strength, Dexterity, Agility, Intelligence, and Love at the expense of Physical Strength.
Free Fight -1
Formation that is suitable for team compositions with only one shaman or healer.
Recommended Formations
Rapid Stream
Having this formation boosts the party’s agility to help them pick up the pace at the cost of stamina. That being said, units gain an advantage by having their evasion raised which allows them to dodge attacks left and right with ease. The formation is suitable for taking out mobs.
The main issue with this formation is that the units fall in a vertical line which makes them fairly prone to attacks that come out on a straight line. Determine the enemy’s pattern of attacks to know whether it’s safe to run Rapid Stream formation.
Rising Phoenix / Imperial Cross
The formation appears with one member garnering most of the enemy’s attention away from his allies. Having said that, you’ll need to assign a unit that can tank hits to occupy the middle of the formation.
The drawback to having this formation is that everyone suffers from having reduced Agility with the exception of the middle member. Since the party can’t move quickly, it is tough to be used when paired with auto-battles.
Often used interchangeably with Imperial Cross since both formations tend to accomplish drawing attention to a style with high END. The style needs to direct attention away from the other high hitting albeit more frail styles, support, and jammers. Most of the quests that appear in the middle to late stages can be dealt with using one of these formations.
Hunter Shift
Hunter Shift boasts less drawbacks and more benefits compared to other formations. While the formation does not push all member’s agility up, taking the composition collectively it’s not bad for taking quests that involve many enemies relying on single column attacks. Other than the dexterity boost that position 1 grants, the member also takes advantage of drawing less attention from enemies.
