Alolan Pokemon
When the player enters the Alola Region, the player gets to encounter the new Alolan Pokemon. The Alolan Pokemon may have new additions to the Pokedex but there are some original Pokemon that attained new forms. These are the Pokemon that have something now known as the Alola Forms. Each of these Alolan Pokemon also have changes in types and skill sets.
List of Alolan Pokemon
When players catch their Pokemon in the Alola region, the Alolan Pokemon still retain their characteristics. Players can also migrate Kanto/Johto Pokemon to Alola and have them change form when in the Alola Region. However, there are also some ways to prevent them from changing form when breeding them. But having one of the new Alola forms may be helpful as majority of them change their types when in the Alola region.
