It is heavily implied that the mysterious Pokemon Necrozma has somehow ‘fused’ itself with the two Pokemon, based on their new black crystalline armor. It is unknown what new powers and abilities Solgaleo and Lunala might have gained with their new forms, although we’re guessing that they could have inherited more powerful Psychic-type abilities since Necrozma is a Psychic Pokemon.
More new Pokemon are expected to make their debut in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon. As confirmed by director Junichi Masuda, the game will introduce Pokemon that have not been seen in the original Sun and Moon titles.
While there was little detail to be obtained from the Nintendo Direct footage in terms of the game’s storyline, it’s fair to guess that the narrative will expand on the Pokemon Necrozma’s actions that have affected the game world in general. While there was actually specific detail about the legendary Psychic-type Pokemon in Sun and Moon, Necrozma was still a big mystery up throughout the first game, which may have pushed the need to expand on his backstory even more.
