New Trial Captain Mina Revamped!
With Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Alola Island Challenges return as the main quests of the story. Based on the lore, the children of Alola who want to become pokemon trainers must go through the four islands to complete their training. However, they included a whole lot of new things including the New Trial Captain Mina!
Who is Trial Captain Mina?
When Mina first came out in Pokemon Sun and Moon, she meets up with the protagonist in the Vast Poni Canyon. Upon meeting, she also reveals to the protagonist that she is a trial captain. However because of her dedication to art, she decides not to put the protagonist on trial. Instead, she decides to pass an item – Fairium Z – to the protagonist. This particular Z Crystal unlocks Twinkle Tackle for all Fairy-type pokemon.
Improvements to the Mina Trial
Unlike the first game, New Trial Captain Mina will not just hand over the Z-Crystal. Instead, there’s a complete trial as she renews her dedication as trial captain. Hence, the speculation comes in as she becomes the New Trial Captain Mina. With a complete revamp of the trials, Nintendo acknowledged that Mina did need an actual trial instead of just chucking the Z Crystal to you. Unfortunately as of now, there’s no information as to what her trials will entail. However, we do know that all the trials did get a revamp. In fact, they may have also changed as to when the trials will occur. Players may fight Mina a lot earlier than usual. But we’re glad she’s getting a revamp. As one of the Pokemon Sun and Moon Kahunas, she did need a little more “oompf” than she did as Pokemon Sun Moon Mina.
She’s not the only one getting a revamp!
However, Nintendo has also released that New Trial Captain Mina is not the only one who has a trial revamp. The content of the trials now include puzzle solving, pattern memorization, and grand island battles. Some of the screen shots included a robotic Vikavolt flying around the place and Charjabugs littered around.
