Ashina Reservoir and Outskirts

Area 1: Ashina Reservoir

1 The tutorial starts once you pick up the Ornamental Letter.
2 Move along the path ahead. Wall jump off the high wall, then shimmy along the narrow path.
3 Hide in the bush and sneak past the guards. You can go undetected if you continue walking in the bush while moving under the house. A caution marker will be displayed above the enemy’s head when you are spotted.
4 Learn Ledge Hang and enter the hole in the side of the house ahead.
5 A cutscene plays.
6 Receive Kusabimaru and talk to the Kuro, the Divine Heir. The Divine Heir gives you a Healing Gourd, which restores HP. Go to the top floor and pick up the Pellet, which restores Vitality.
7 Go outside and defeat the enemies. Shigenori Yamauchi can only be killed with two Deathblows. His vertical slash is difficult to block. Make sure you dodge these attacks when your posture stress is high.
8 Follow the road to the right of the locked gate.
9 Climb the ledge ahead and go under the bridge.
10 Proceed down the path on the other side of the bridge and call the Divine Heir at the door.
11 Fight Genichiro Ashina.
12 Lose the battle and receive the Shinobi Prosthetic.
13 Approach the Sculptor for Shinobi Prosthetic Tool Upgrades. Immortal Hanbei to the right can act as a training dummy.
14 Proceed straight down the path with your Grappling Hook and continue to the next area.

Area 2: Castle Outskirts

15 Use the Grappling Hook to advance towards the cliff ahead.
16 Examine the Sculptor’s Idol.
17 Obtain the Shuriken Wheel hidden inside one of the arcs in the area where you have to fight wolves.
18 Use the Travel option on the Sculptor’s Idol and go to the Dilapidated Temple to upgrade your Shinobi Prosthetic after finding the Shuriken Wheel.
19 Explore the area and defeat enemies until you reach the area where you have to fight Naomori Kawarada.
20 Naomori Kawarada can only be killed if you land two Deathblows. You can deal one Deathblow by sneaking up on him and performing a surprise attack.
21 Defeat the General and the other enemies beyond the gate.
22 Talk to the woman inside the house down the stairs and take the Young Lord’s Bell Charm.
23 Proceed to the path ahead and defeat the enemies.
24 Head left and talk to Anayama the Peddler. Give him 50 Sen to open his shop.
25 Proceed to the north gate and head left at the high platform to unlock the Sculptor’s Idol.
26 Move forward and eavesdrop on the two enemies at the stairs. Kill the enemies and proceed north. A Chained Ogre is located at the end of the path.
27 Before taking on the ogre, head left and proceed upwards. Practice using the Mikiri Counter on the spear-equipped enemy and kill him.
28 Defeat the Chained Ogre.
29 After defeating the mini-boss, use the grappling hook at the top of the gate ahead.
30 Defeat multiple enemies before fighting the general mini-boss.
31 Eliminate General Tenzen Yamauchi.
