Trials of Mana Choosing Your Character
Best Main Hero Characters for Beginners
When playing Trials of Mana for the first time, it is recommended to choose a character with good physical damage. This allows you to get used to the combat as enemies encountered in the early stages can easily be defeated with physical attacks.
|Riesz||Highly recommended||Good balance of stats, easy combat because of long reach, good synergy with Hawkeye in the story.|
|Kevin||Recommended||High attack power, increased damage at night time, good in one-on-one boss encounters.|
|Hawkeye||Somewhat recommended||Has increased item drop rate, good debuff skills, good synergy with Riesz in the story.|
When choosing an ally for the main story, it is best to select a character who is connected to the main hero you chose story-wise. You will be able to view special cutscenes unique to the pair as you go through the story for the first time.
|Route 1||Duran and Angela|
|Route 2||Kevin and Charlotte|
|Route 3||Hawkeye and Riesz|
You should also try to go for a character that complements your two other heroes. Below is a summary of the special roles that each of the playable characters should fill in a party.
|Duran||Physical attacker, tank|
|Kevin||Strong single-target physical attacker|
Choose Charlotte as the Third Character.
If you ever decide to choose Charlotte as one of your allies, be sure to select her as the third in your party. This will allow you to battle the boss Full Metal Hugger with three characters in your party, Charlotte being able to heal allies with low HP.
Other Reminders when Choosing Characters
Story and encounters depend on the main hero chosen.
The story route revolves around the main hero that you chose in the beginning, which include events, enemies and bosses, encountered, and dungeons explored. If you intend to play through the game multiple times, be sure to choose a main character you have not played as before.
You cannot change selected characters after choosing them.
Note that you will not be able to change any of the three characters you have selected during the story. Be sure to decide which party combination you are most comfortable with.
Switching control of characters is enabled.
You can switch between different characters in your party during the game. This is useful if you want to set-up specific spells or abilities before taking control of your main hero.
