Guide on How to Defeat Mispolm
Mispolm is one of the Benevodons that you need to defeat in Trials of Mana Remake. Mispolm represents the Wood element. The boss is stationary and is accompanied by two ivies that attack on their own. Mispolm’s head can also detonate, so better to anticipate the attack as you go along. You can encounter Mispolm at the Woods of Wandara.
Here is a breakdown of the boss’ strengths and weaknesses, stats, and skills:
|Target Areas||Body, Snapdragon (Wind)|
|Recommended Level||Level 55 or higher|
|EXP Rewards||20,000 exp|
|Lucre Rewards||3,800 lucre|
Mispolm can regenerate its health over time. It also has ivies that rely on ranged attacks to deal damage. Your best bet is to take these out first.
|Vine Attack||Mispolm’s sends out a vine to whip enemies.|
|Poison Bubble||Mispolm inflicts poison on 1 enemy. Whenever the damage ticks, Mispolm gains a sliver of MP.|
|Sleep Flower||Mispolm puts 1 enemy to sleep.|
|Grumpkin||A stronger version of Bumpkin but use a watermelon instead. These can be thrown by Mispolm and the Snapdragon minions.|
|Barrage Sting||Mispolm unleashes an area of effect attack. The attack causes splash damage and scales with the amount of its vines.|
|Snapdragon Bomb||Once they are out of HP, a Snapdragon’s head will leap and hit a marked area like a bomb explosion.|
Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:
Setup your AI Battle Strategy
|Tactics||Protection is Paramount|
|Moves||Use moves without MP falling to 50%|
|Class Strikes||Do not use Class Strikes|
|Healing Items||Leave at least 5 of each items in stock|
Upgrade to Tier 3 Classes Prior Boss Battle
Once you acquire ??? seeds, return to the Sanctuary of Mana and plant them in the magic pot near the gold mana statue. Check if the class change items are the ones you desire. If they are, visit the special mana statue and change to Tier 3 Classes. If not, we suggest holding it for now until you get the class change items you desire since it takes time to acquire class reset items.
Cast buffs to yourself and your party members carefully while engaging Mispolm. These buffs can be in the form of attack increase (Power Up), defense increase (Protect Up), and magic & magic increase (Mind Up). They can be accessed as innate abilities or consumable items.
Keep Moving and Dodging Attacks
Be on the move at all times to avoid getting hit by Mispolm’s close range moves such as Body Slam and long range moves such as Lucent Beam.
Cast multiple debuffs on Mispolm’s body. Debuffs can be in the form of attack decrease (Power Down), defense decrease (Protect Down), and magic & magic defense decrease (Mind Down). These debuffs can be accessed as innate abilities or consumable items.
Heal and Cure Status Effects
Mispolm has a penchant of immobilizing its enemies with status like sleep and poison. If you don’t have Charlotte in your team, make sure you have Medicine Herbs, Stardust Herbs, or Marmpoto Oils in your stock.
Clear Out All Snapdragons First
While it can be tempting to close in on Mispolm immediately, it has many Snapdragons that can break into a frenzy when left to patrol the field. Among its attacks, Mispolm is troublesome if it gains an opportunity to make use of Barrage Sting. The attack hits for more damage depending on the amount of vines present on the field. We recommend using Wind magic to damage Snapdragons faster.
Target the Body to Stun the Boss
After defeating the snapdragon minions, hit the body of the Mispolm in order to stun it. Then, use your hardest-hitting combos and class strikes against the boss. Then, follow up with another class strike from your other party member.
Break Blue Vases to Replenish CS Gauges
Break all blue vases around the area in order to to fill-up your CS gauges and use Class Strikes again.
Use Elemental and Summon Magic
If you ran out of CS gauges, make use of elemental or summon magic to damage Mispolm. If you have Angela in your party, kite the boss from a distance such as Fire magic. If you ran out of MP, consume a Faerie Walnut or switch to another party member.
