Speak with Lord Shimura – Enter Fort Koyasan
1 | Talk to Lord Shimura at the camp near Toyotama Hills. Afterwards, talk to Yuna and Taka. |
---|---|
2 | Ride to the lookout point near Fort Koyasan. Assess the point of entry and watch the cutscene. |
3 | After Taka triggers the distraction, wait until the Mongols leave. Approach the main gate afterwards. |
Make your way to the upper gate
1 | As you come by the gate, take out the Mongol warrior and make your way to the left. Head for the small open building but watch for the archers above as you approach and kill a Mongol leaning on the wall. |
---|---|
2 | Move along the wall going to the far right edge of the area to another small building and stables. Take out the Mongol guard there and the one inside the stable. |
3 | Head for the ramp going to the upper area of the fort. There will many enemies here, including two mace-wielding Mongols that are tough to take down. For an easier time dealing with them, shoot the explosive barrels in the middle of the area to kill as many enemies as possible. Finish of the remaining Mongols afterwards. |
4 | Go up the stairs and through the upper gate. |
Recover Gear – Defeat the Straw Hats
1 | Get your equipment from the crate near the fence. Afterwards, initiate a Standoff with the Straw Hats to charge up your Resolve. |
---|---|
2 | Defeat the remaining Straw Hats. Try to lead them near the explosive barrels to take them out quicker. One can be found by the stairs going to the temple. The other one is up the ramp going to the courtyard gate. |
3 | Go through the gate to escape from the inner courtyard. Go with Yuna afterwards for a cutscene. |
4 | Get ready to battle three waves of enemies consisting of Straw Hats and Mongol forces. Follow Yuna again afterwards. |
Strategy
Dealing with the Mongol Mace Wielders
The ramp leading to the upper area of Fort Koyasan is guarded by two Mongol mace-wielding brutes. An easy way to get rid of them is by using hallucination darts obtained by clearing The Proud Do Not Endure Tale given by Yuriko. The side quest becomes available after clearing Ghost from the Past.
Upon being shot with the darts, the brutes will go berserk and attack their allies in the upper level of the fort. The remaining enemies should not be too hard to deal with, especially if you shoot the explosive barrels in the area.
Defeating the Combined Force of Straw Hats and Mongol Warriors
Dogs will be among the first wave of enemies consisting of the Straw Hats and Mongols. Take them out first as they will annoyingly take cheap shots at you when you are busy with other targets. Also remember to switch stances to adapt to the type of enemy you are fighting and lure one from the group to make the encounter more manageable.
You should be quite comfortable parrying enemies at this point as well. Use it to accumulate Resolve to give you the option of using sword techniques or healing during the fight.
