What are Ghost Weapons?

Ghost weapons are special tools that Jin can use to outwit or kill enemies, expanding his approach to combat and infiltration as the Ghost. These tools come in the form various throwing weapons and explosives that leave foes staggered or disoriented.

How to Unlock Ghost Weapons

Ghost of Tsushima - All Ghost Weapons and Evolution Tactics

Ghost weapons are unlocked by leveling up your Legend Level which increases as you defeat enemies, liberate occupied territories, and clear main story quests and tales.

Ghost Weapon List

Ghost weapons are quickfire weapons under the Ghost Stance. These are the following:

Kunai

Kunai can be used to stagger enemies or perform quick kunai kills when fully upgraded:

Name Effect How to Unlock
Kunai Throw two kunai at enemies, leaving them staggered. Reach The Wandering Samurai Legend Level.
Hidden Blade Throw 1 addional kunai. Consume 1 technique point and learn Kunai.
Serrated Blades Kunai inflict twice as much damage. Consume 2 technique points and learn Hidden Blade.

Black Powder Bomb

Name Effect How to Unlock
Black Powder Bomb Thrown explosive that damages and staggers enemies caught in the blast. Consume 1 technique point.
Concussive Blast Knocks down enemies struck by the shockwave of a Black Powder Bomb. Consume 1 technique point and learn Black Powder Bomb.
Explosive Shrapnel Adds shrapnel to the Black Powder Bomb, increasing its damage and blast radius. Consume 2 technique points and learn Concussive Blast .

Smoke Bomb

Smoke bombs can stun nearby enemies upon detonating before releasing a thick veil of smoke around the area. You can use them to secure a quick escape route or for setting up critical strikes against a disoriented foe.

Smoke Bomb Unleash a dense cloud of smoke at your feet. Consume 1 technique point
Blinding Dust Smoke Bombs temporarily blind enemies caught in their blast. Smoke also lasts longer before disappearing. Consume 1 technique point and learn Black Powder Bomb.
Healing Incense Smoke Bomb fumes restore some of your health. Consume 2 technique points and learn Blinding Dust.

Sticky Bomb

Name Effect How to Unlock
Sticky Bomb Throw a pitch-covered bomb that will stick to your enemy. Consume 1 technique point.
Guarded Throw You’re no longer adversely affected by a bomb’s blast. Consume 1 technique point and learn Sticky Bomb.
Explosive Powder A direct hit with the Sticky Bomb kills the target, causes a bigger blast radius, and inflicts more damage on enemies caught in the blast. Consume 2 technique points and learn Sticky Bomb.

Wind Chime

Name Effect How to Unlock
Wind Chime Throw a small bell to draw an enemy’s attention Consume 1 technique point.
Firecracker Throw a firecracker to draw multiple enemies to a location Consume 1 technique point and learn Wind Chime.

Evolving Tactics are new combat abilities unlocked by Jin under the Ghost Stance. Theses are the following:

Recover Health

Name Effect How to Unlock
Recover Health Regain a moderate amount of health at the cost of Resolve. Learned automatically.
Iron Will Save yourself from defeat when wounded. Consume 2 technique points and learn Recover Health.

Recover Health

Name Effect How to Unlock
Standoff Challenge enemies to a one-on-one showdown. Learned automatically.
Standoff Streak After a successful Standoff, one enemy will rush in and open themselves to a killing blow. Consume 2 technique points and learn Standoff.
Improved Standoff Streak After a successful Standoff, two enemies will rush in and open themselves to a killing blow. Consume 2 technique points and learn Standoff Streak.

Archery

Name Effect How to Unlock
Archery Harness the Way of the Bow. Learned after clearing “The Tale of Sensei Ishikawa” (Jin’s Journey).
Concentration Briefly slow time while aiming to improve accuracy. Consume 1 technique point and learn Archery.
Mental Fortitude Reduce Concentration by 15% Consume 1 technique point and learn Concentration.
Improved Mental Fortitude Reduce Concentration by 30% Consume 1 technique point and learn Improved Mental Fortitude.

Assassination

Name Effect How to Unlock
Assassination Kill unaware enemies with a quiet and brutal stealth attack. Learned after clearing The Warrior’s Code (Jin’s Journey).
Safe Landing Roll just before landing to avoid damage from all but the highest of falls Consume 1 technique point and learn Archery.
Chain Assassination Assassinate two nearby targets in quick succession. Consume 1 technique point and learn Safe Landing.
Chain Assassination Master Assassinate up to three nearby enemies in quick succession. Consume 1 technique point and learn Chain Assassination.

Focused Hearing

Name Effect How to Unlock
Focused Hearing Detect nearby enemies by sound. Learned after clearing The Warrior’s Code (Jin’s Journey).
Far Hearing Detect more distant enemies by listening with a deeper focus. Consume 1 technique point and learn Focused Hearing.
Stealth Hearing Move faster while using Focused Hearing. Consume 1 technique point and learn Far Hearing.
Killer’s Instinct Notice a flashing aura around Assassination targets when their allies will be alerted by their death. Consume 1 technique point and learn Stealth Hearing.

Shoji Assassination

Name Effect How to Unlock
Shoji Assassination Assassinate an enemy behind a Shoji door. Learned after clearing Shadow of the Samurai (Jin’s Journey).

Ghost Stance

Name Effect How to Unlock
Ghost Stance Approach enemy leaders while in stealth to Slaughter them and enter the Ghost Stance. Once in Ghost Stance, you can kill up to 3 enemies with deadly strikes. Learned after clearing The Ghost of Yarikawa (Jin’s Journey).
Ghost Kill Streak Strike fear into your enemies so they believe you’re more than human. Kill enemies without taking damage to enter Ghost Stance. Reduces the kill count required to trigger Ghost Stance. Consume 1 technique point
