Best Armor Sets

#1 – Kensei Armor

The Kensei Armor offers excellent offensive and defensive passive effects, making it the best and most versatile armor in the game. Its synergy with Ghost Weapons is unsurpassed, allowing you to severely debuff enemies hit by them.

The already impressive increase in Resolve gained can be further enhanced to a massive 30% when upgraded. This allows you endlessly throw out techniques such as the Dance of Wrath after killing enemies or parrying them.

#2 – Sakai Clan Armor

The Sakai Clan Armor is a very well-balanced set, granting impressive boosts to melee damage and maximum health.

While the armor’s description states that it increases the Standoff kill streak to 2 (when upgrade), it is actually raised to 5. Because of this, the Sakai Clan Armor allows you to quickly accumulate Resolve when entering camps while giving you the chance to significantly reduce enemy count early on.

#3 – Ghost Armor

The Ghost Armor is obtained quite far into the main story but grants very good effects to carry you towards the end of the game. It is especially useful for quickly entering Ghost Stance when upgraded.

Killing enemies, especially with assassinations, has a chance to leave nearby enemies in a helpless terrified state. This is useful for avoiding drawn out battles and allows you to relocate before reinforcements arrive.

#4 –  Gosaku’s Armor

Gosaku’s Armor offers impressive survivability by increasing your maximum health and giving you an auto-heal when killing staggered enemies.

The armor’s focus on staggering enemies is also enhanced. When upgraded, opponents will be left vulnerable in just a few hits. You will be able to entirely skip using Resolve to heal with enough skill using this armor set.

#5 –  Mongol Commander’s Armor

The Mongol Commander’s Armor is a versatile armor set but is more useful for direct combat. It offers increased maximum health and reduced incoming damage up to major amounts.

The armor set gives you the appearance of a Mongol commanders, making it hard for Mongol enemies to notice you. Note that the armor set cannot be upgraded.

#6 – Samurai Clan Armor

The Samurai Clan Armor is one of the best armor sets to obtain early in the main story. It is a direct combat-focused set that reduces incoming damage taken and increases your maximum health.

The armor set allows you to gain Resolve when taking damage, which is good for when you are still learning enemy attack patterns and timing. Note that you will want to replace this set with something better as you become more adept at dodging and parrying enemy attacks.

# 7 – Ronin Attire

The Ronin Attire offers a good mix of stealth and- and direct combat-focused effects. It is especially useful for infiltration missions and other quests requiring you to not raise the enemy’s alarm.

Pampas grass is frequently found during many of the early missions of the main story, putting the armor’s third passive effect to good use.

#8 – Tadayori’s Armor

Tadayori’s Armor is an armor set that benefits archery with passive effects to increase fire rate and Concentration duration.

Because of its sole focus on using the bows, equipping Tadayori’s Armor is largely situational. You will want to switch to different armor when melee combat cannot be avoided.

#9 – Hero of Tsushima Armor

The Hero of Tsushima Armor grants you good passive effects for increased survivability near the beginning of the game. It will easily be replaced by equipment obtained through the main story but it is still better than using the Broken Armor.

#10 – Traveler’s Attire

The Traveler’s Attire is mainly used for finding collectibles while exploring the island. It offers no benefits in combat so it is best to switch it out during encounters.
