[Grand Theft Auto V / GTA 5] Tips and Tricks: Cross the Line

This article contains tips and tricks in winning in Cross the Line Mode. This game mode is available in Grand Theft Auto V [GTA 5].

Tips and Tricks: Cross the Line Mode

Cross the Line Mode is a game mode in Grand Theft Auto V [GTA 5] that has two teams. These two teams have only one objective and that is to cross over to the other side of the line. In a sense, the players would then claim the territory of the opposing team in order to win. However, two teams will face off in a neutral zone where they would fight against their opponents who are also trying to claim the area. There are two lines in two different colours: red and blue. If the player is on the red team then, he must make it to the blue line. If the player is on the blue team then, he must reach the red line. However, all players should make it to the other side.

Should both fights end equally, the match will enter Sudden Death mode. The Sudden Death mode will indicate two possible match ups:

  • First to Cross The Line  – Only one member has to cross the line to win.
  • Last Team Standing – Teams must shoot each other until the other side is dead.

To win Cross the Line, here are some tips and tricks:

Don’t rush in

Rushing in only ends badly. In gamer terms, do not Leeroy Jenkins this game mode. Rushing in with guns blazing only ends with a terrible death and a team handicap. Rushing in can only work if the player has another team member covering them for any damage taken.

Use the nearby cover

Taking cover nearby allows players to prevent taking damage while moving in closely. While it does take sometime, the objective of the game mode is to make it to the other side. While it does not say how one should do it, it means players are given the option to simply creep over slowly without taking too much damage.

Zerg down the lane

“Zerging” is a term that people use when all team members focus on one lane. While this makes the team vulnerable to a clean sweep, it allows players to cover for their teammates to prevent themselves from getting killed. Zerging also allows other players to watch behind if there’s another enemy making a beeline for their own line.

Pincer Strategy

Pincer splits the team into pairs where they will forcibly surround the opposing team. As they close in on the team, this prevents the other team from being able to close in on the line. However, this can be troublesome if the opposing team has players that are talented in skirmishing.

Use the grenade to draw them out of cover

Using the grenade can draw enemies out from their cover to prevent themselves from being destroyed. As the grenade can roll under the cover, enemies would leave their cover and allow a clear shot for one’s allies to take. However, this grenade must be aptly timed and targeted. Players are only given a single grenade which allows little margin for mistake.
