Avitus Rix Profile

Avitus Rix is a Turian Spectre, part of the Turian ark and Saren Arterius’ protege. A Turian Spectre specializes in special tactics and reconnaissance. Upon meeting Ryder, he apologizes to him due to his “methods” (going as above saying that it is extreme) after killing off an enemy. He did the Council’s dirty work for 15 years.  In addition, he is quite used in being above the law (due to the nature of being a unit that specializes in reconnaissance).

The Initiative was his retirement plan as he was convinced by Macen that Andromeda was his chance to live outside the shadows. After Natanus hit the Scourge he has  no idea where the turian ark is when encountered by Ryder for the first time. Furthermore, he had to break out of his own stasis pod in order to survive (a feat wherein Ryder is amazed as crash after the Natanus hit the Scourge would have likely killed him).

He also tells Ryder that most of the turian population is still missing, including Macen the Turian Pathfinder. SAM hasn’t transferred to him so Macen is still alive and that the turian Pathfinder will stop at nothing to find Avitus.  Avitus and Macen are close as it is hinted that he somehow he paused for a few second before answering Ryder. In addition, he is not used to discussing his personal life with others as he cannot tell stories from his Spectre days. Furthermore, he lets Ryder know that the reason he cannot tell much stories was because of his occupation (which is classified ops). Avitus also thought that by being a Spectre, he should be prone to bending the rules (even in real life reconnaissance units, will do whatever it takes to complete a mission).
Saren Arterius recommended Avitus to the Council to be a Spectre. Whatever command was given to Avitus, he carried it out without question.
To Avitus, the Saren he knew was ruthless – not crazy. He also points out that something made him snap. He tells Ryder that “everyone has a breaking point. He got out before he got hit with his own breaking point.”
