Weapons and equipment in Mass Effect Andromeda are classified under Common, Uncommon, Rare and Ultra Rare. Ultra Rare weapons (indicated by a streak of red on their icon) are very hard to obtain, as they usually require very large amounts of Research Points to get the blueprints. Merchants will also sell them for quite a price. Below is a way on how to obtain an Ultra Rare Weapon early in the game.
How to Get Ultra Rare Weapons Early in the Game
During the Tempest’s first mission A Better Beginning (third in the Main Missions Line), you can access a part of the map to obtain Ultra Rare weapons early in the game. You’ll need to have access to the Nomad in the mission to reach this particular part of the map.
First, fast travel to Forward Station indicated on the map below.

After arriving at the Forward Station, follow the series of images to get to the outpost where you can obtain the ultra rare weapons.

Note that you’ll need to reach the cave just up ahead on the image below. There will be enemy Kett there, so prepare to engage them if you want. Once inside the cave, just go straight until you reach the outside again.

As you exit the cave, drive down on the slope indicated below. Continue your descent straight down the slope until you get to the bottom of the canyon. You will see another cave in the distance that you will need to enter.

After you exit the second cave, a little closer to the left side as shown below.

Then, you’ll have to jump off the ledge to the area below. You should arrive on Presson Dunes.

Once you’re on Presson Dunes, you can try to drive and stay a little on the left until you notice a big canyon on your right covered in green radiation. From there, drop down to the bottom of the canyon as shown below.

Once on the bottom of the canyon, continue driving straight and you will catch sight of an outpost in the distance.

Park the Nomad near the outpost, then save. Head for the big container at the back and check the weapons there if it has anything you like. Note that there will be enemies there which should prove quite a challenge. Take note that there will also be a mini-boss in the area. If you’re lucky, you should be able to find an Ultra Rare weapon there. If you don’t find anything you like, you can just reload your save. You can also just die by going into radiation or getting yourself killed off by the mini boss and mobs. Just repeat until you find an Ultra Rare weapon that you like.
