What is an Everstone?
The Everstone is an item in the Pokemon series that prevents a Pokemon from evolving. As long as a Pokemon holds the item they will not evolve, even upon reaching the appropriate level.
However, the Everstone also has other uses such as transferring a suitable nature to offspring. For those more into competitive play, natures play a big part in increasing the stats of a Pokemon, which influence its outgoing damage. Initially, there was only a 50% chance of a Pokemon inheriting its parent’s nature. However, after the release of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, a Pokemon holding an Everstone has a 100% chance of passing its nature onto its offspring.
Another effect of the stone is that it allows the player to choose what form a Pokemon will take. For example, if a regular Raichu holding an Everstone mates with an Alolan Raichu, the Pokemon that hatches from the resulting egg would be normal form as well. However, this does not stop it from changing into the Alolan form when hatched in Alola.
