Grapplavine Strategies
Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:
Setup your AI Battle Strategy
Target | Same Enemy |
---|---|
Tactics | Protection is Paramount |
Moves | Use moves without MP falling to 50% |
Class Strikes | Do not use Class Strikes |
Healing Items | Leave at least 5 of each items in stock |
Target the Body
The first phase of the battle will start without the face of the boss revealed. For now target the boss’s body to inflict damage. However, be careful in getting close at the beginning since the boss will have Silkspitter minions around it. Use your range damage dealers first while curing the remaining melee damage dealer/s from poison statuses.
Keep on Healing and Curing Status Ailments
While trying to avoid the attacks, make sure to secure your party member’s health. Also. keep them away from debuffs, status ailments, and status effects. If you don’t have Charlotte in your team, make sure you have Medicine Herbs, Stardust Herbs, or Marmpoto Oils in your stock.
Dodge the Target Areas
At 75% health, Grapplavine will show it’s face and use it’s Hammer Bud attack. It covers a large section of the area when it sets the seeds off. When you see it coming, take out some seeds to clear a path to interrupt the explosion and then take off to gap on the edge of the screen far away from the large seeds until the explosion subsides. Safe zones are located at the farthest back and sides of the battlefield.
Break Blue Vases to Replenish CS Gauges
Break all blue vases around the area in order to to fill-up your CS gauges.
Avoid Staying In Front
When engaging the boss from a close distance, don’t spend too much attacking in front of it. The boss might use it’s Bite attack and deal damage to you.
Use Class Strikes on the Face or Head
While Grapplavine’s slender body might sound easier to hit compared to its head, focusing on it does more harm than good since it resists attacks. That being said, you need to focus your on attacks on its face cautiously. Wait for the boss to lower its ugly head and then execute a class strike for some good damage. Shift between hitting its head and punishing its body to whittle it down.
Use Debuffs
Cast multiple debuffs on Grapplavine’s body and head only. Debuffs can be in the form of attack decrease (Power Down), defense decrease (Protect Down), and magic & magic defense decrease (Mind Down). These debuffs can be accessed as innate abilities or consumable items.
Cast Buffs
Cast buffs to yourself and your party members carefully while engaging Grapplavine. These buffs can be in the form of attack increase (Power Up), defense increase (Protect Up), and magic & magic increase (Mind Up). They can be accessed as innate abilities or consumable items.
Use Elemental and Summon Magic
If you ran out of CS gauges, make use of elemental or summon magic to damage Grapplavine. Even though the boss has resistance to elemental attacks including Fire, it can still be damaged.
Use Aerial Attacks and Combos
If you rant out of MP, deal continuous aerial attacks to combos to the boss instead. This will build up your character’s CS gauge over time in order to finish off the boss. Aim your attacks directly to its face or head.
