Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon - Fairy Type Pokemon: Directory

This article contains all the information about Fairy Type Pokemon including their weaknesses, their strengths from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon.

Fairy Type Pokemon

Fairy type Pokemon was recently introduced in Generation 6. Notable Trainers who specialize in the use of Fairy Type Pokemon include Gym Leader Valerie of Laverre City and Mina the Trial Captain of the Alola Region. It became an answer to the Pokemon types that originally had no weaknesses. This consisted of the Dark/Ghost-type (i.e. Sableye) whose previous Dual-Typing enabled it to receive Neutral damage from most attacks.

Battle Properties

Like any other pokemon Fairy Type Pokemon in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon have an advantage over certain types. Some of those types are Dark Dragon and Fighting Types. However they also take neutral damage from other elements but deal halved damage against other pokemon. Some type combinations that take half-damage from Fairy Type Pokemon are the Fire Type pokemon.

Type Defenses

×2 Poison Steel
x1 Normal Fire Water Electric Grass Ice Ground Flying Psychic Rock Ghost Fairy
×0 Dragon
x1/2 Bug Dark Fighting

The above mentioned Type Defenses pertain to the damage dealt by certain types to a Single-type Fairy Pokemon. Note that this will vary for certain Dual-type Fairy Pokemon as it will also have to factor the other typing. However this can change if the Fairy Type Pokemon is a dual-type (i.e. Steel/Fairy like Klefki). Then it will take half-damage from 8 Types. However if it gets from a Fire type attack Klefki will take double the damage.

Dual Type

Dual Type pokemon often take more damage from a single element. However this is done in exchange for taking regular damage from another element the type in question is weak to. For example Mimikyu is a dual Ghost/Fairy Type pokemon. If Mimikyu takes damage from a Bug Type attack it’ll only receive x1/4 damage because of it being half-Bug type. However if it gets hit by a Ghost type attack Mimikyu will take double the damage because of its additional typing.

Primary: Fairy

Dual Type Fairy Type Pokemon have two mixtures. One has Fairy as its primary type and the other as its secondary type. While this does not have significant difference in affecting the kind of skills it can learn it does affect the kind of stats it distributes. One example is Moonblast. Moonblast would do more damage if the pokemon is either a dual type with Fairy as a primary type or a pure Fairy type pokemon. This is due to the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) mechanic.
